I should have watched that movie before inviting my 10 year old son to watch it with me

Ok so, I've been wanting to have a movie night with my family but it is kinda hard.

We have a 6 year old daughter who doesn't understand English yet, a 10 year old boy who is not really into movies but appreciates watching them in English, and I as an adult didn't feel like watching another girly unicorn/barbie/musical show this time.

So we made this deal: our daughter could watch her favorite show or play with the cats, while we watched a decent movie with our son.
My Husband had a lot of movies to pick from, but I knew nothing about them, so I said: your choice! As long as it's appropriate for our son to watch it. He said, this one looks good, it's a comedy, it's called "A Simple Favour".

So it started pretty decent... a woman with cooking vlog for mothers... actually I thought " this is going to be a little too pink for my son ".

Then there is a missing person so I thought " huh, interesting... a little suspense will get him entertained".

After probably the first 30 minutes I start giving the "I'm gonna kill you" look to my husband... I couldn't believe I was making my kid watch this. For some scenes I was actually covering my eyes and apologizing to my kid... "someone please kill me now" . I said to myself.
I was liking the movie but I was suffering it at the same time... it was torturing to have my son right there and not know what inappropriate scene might come or when it would. The horror!

Since I don't want to spoil it for you, I'll just say that I was really relieved when it ended and then felt guilty and angry.
-"Don't you watch movie trailers? " - I asked my husband... you should at least have checked out the age tag!
When I watch Netflix with our little daughter I always read the description, watch the trailer and if it's not available I look it up on YouTube, and check the age number, so that's standard protocol for me. Since my husband has been mentioning this movie so much lately, I thought he was well informed, somehow I thought he had already watched it.

So, after a while I discover that imdb shows you a parent guide, that tells you what to expect from a movie. I'll definitely be checking it out next time (if my son dares to watch any movie with us again)
I also checked the certification and It said:

"Rated R for sexual content and language throughout, some graphic nude images, drug use and violence"

Oh God, I'm going straight to hell!
