I was born here, I was raised here and I swear, I never did anything to hurt anybody.
Disclaimer: This is not a well written article, english is not my first language, it's just something I need you to know and understand.
I am an Afrikaner
I'm part of a minorty, probably one of the smallest minorities in the world. I'm an Afrikaner. South Africa is my homeland, it's the only place in the world where there are others like me.
What's an Afrikaner you ask? Well, simply put it's a person who speaks Afrikaans and is descended from Dutch settlers who arrived in South Africa in the 17th and 18th century. We are also known as "boers".
We have culture, we have literature, we have music and we have our sports, dare I say it: we are human, yes just like you.
Now, the thing is, I happen to be a white Afrikaner and South African whites built this system of institutionalised racial segragation and discrimination which they called Apartheid, I'm sure you've heard of it. This system was in effect from 1948 to 1991.
I am still hated
I was born in 1988, in other words, I was three years old when apartheid ended. I'm 29 today and I am still hated for being white. I don't understand why I am hated this much, my involved in apartheid was surely minimal!
Murder
I am living in fear of extinction. White South Africas (All whites, not just afrikaners) make up less than 10% of the total population in this country. We are 40% of the homicide victims. (Atleast 50 people a day are murdered in South Africa).
Employment
In order to correct the wrongs of apartheid a large percentage of the ten percent are denied work because of the colour of our skin. The Black economic empowerment program dictates that each department of a company represented by 80% black citizens.
Housing
White people lucky enough to own their own homes mostly live in secure gated communities, have armed response teams and electric fences.
Farmers
White farmers, especially the eldarly still living on farms are raped, murdered, mangled and tortured
Our president
Our current president (accusations of rape, corruption, selling state control to a 3rd party), sang a song in Bloemfontein 08/01/2012 which was recorded any played on TV. The lyrics went something like this:
We going to shoot them, with the machine gun.
They are going to run.
You are a boer.
We are going to hit them, and you are going to run.
Shoot the boer
We are going to hit them, and you are going to run.
The people watching him were literally singing and dancing along. It's sickening. This is pure incentive for genocide.
South African Police Service
Looking at the currently horrific stats on crime doesn't paint the full picture, the police department is so corrupt and incompetent that they are unable to do anything about a crime, as a result most crimes aren't even reported. So, go ahead, go look at our stats, it will make you sick and then know that it's worse in reality.
For some reason, the SAPS has stopped release statistics about the race of the victims. I wonder why that is.
What puzzles me most
What puzzles me most is the denial, the denial that these things are happened by the outside media, the denial of the white south africans who say it's all untrue, yet they live in gated communicates with security gaurds.
I hate this country
I am tired of being afraid when I go to bed.
I am tired of waking up and seeing that the tires were stolen off a car in my yard.
I am tired of having my lawnmower stolen.
I am tired of locking the door and taking my keys out everytime I have a smoke.
I am tired of being stressed that my dogs will be poisened when I leave.
I am tired of people flipping off my girlfriend or calling her a white bitch after she gives them bread when they say they are hungry.
I am tired of leaving the creche after dropping off my daughter and being worried that they get robbed.
I am tired of losing half my salary to tax and never being able to save.
I am tired of my girlfriend endlessly being turned down for jobs she applied for.
I am tired of crying myself to sleep because I know I am raising my daughter here and I'll never ever have enough cash to move to a different country.
I am tired of knowing that my daughter will grow up to never have a quality education.
I am tired of hearing that I have no right to any land in this country.
I am tired of living in a city where it's more dangerous to walk around in a group in daylight than it is to walk alone at night in Los Angeles.
This was a rant, incase you haven't noticed, but I need you, the reader to know - the next time sometime says he thinks South Africa is a great country to move to, that he couldn't be more wrong.
I would just like to say one thing to my country, South Africa I used to love you, but you are treating me like shit - and as soon as I have enough cash, I'm dumping your stinkin' ass and moving to 'murrica!
Thank you for reading this. I hope it's opened your eyes.
Yip South Africa is the worst place to live!!
I wouldn't say the worst: https://www.cato.org/blog/worlds-most-least-miserable-countries-2016
It's the fourth worst.

I thought South Africa was bad when I lived there 5 years ago. when I left I really hoped things would become better but its sad to see it got worst
As a South African of British descent, I feel your pain. Just imagine if it were as they claim, a true rainbow nation, everybody living in peace and harmony. There are so many who wish it... Hopefully Lauren Southern can keep the light shining on this problem...
