Pics from the Flight-Line - The Arizona Electric Festival - February 10, 2018 - Mesa, Arizona, USA (Electric RC Aircraft)

in #airplanes7 years ago

It was a nice warm day in Mesa, Arizona. A great day to attend the Arizona Electric Festival, even though I just worked the pits and didn't fly.

ALL the aircraft that you will see on this post are powered by batteries and electric motors!

Yes ALL the Remote Controlled Airplanes, Helicopters and other flying-contraptions are powered by batteries. Most likely Lithium Polymer "Li-Po" batteries. Even the ones with 3 meter wingspans.

In subsequent posts I will share more photographs of aircraft flying and crashing, but for now I just want to upload all the pics from today's flight-line.

Enjoy!

As you can see we had a large turn-out!

Here's the festival from 2016.

Kind of funny...I took that video too! LOL

I got curious, and looked it up Youtube. What kinda plane did you use? What's the max flight time for Nitro?

I didn't fly this year, just took pics and worked as a crew member. In 2016 I flew a P-51 Mustang. With a nitro engine you can usually get between 5 and $15 minutes. 2 Stroke gasoline engine is the best engine as far as cost. Nitro is expensive. And well batteries are a bit "greener".

It's the same problem with rc boats. Not enough running time. At least with boats, you think they would have enough room for a large gas tank. They need to make something that last at least 20 minutes.
