Alaskan Adventure

in #alaska7 years ago

Sorry about the delay in posting, but I just started a terrible new job working on a cruise ship in Alaska; 15 hour work days, no breaks, no meals, little sleep, but hopefully I'll be leaving it soon. But, despite the terrible schedule and atrocious living and working conditions, Alaska itself is an incredibly beautiful place. I mean, seriously, if you've never been up here, you should try to make the journey at some point in your life.

The landscapes are bleak and harsh, yet still green and somehow inviting with glaciers the bluest blue you've ever seen and waters that transition from translucent green to sapphire blue, coastal mountains that disappear into the whitest fog that hangs thick in the air all day long and a frankly stunning variety of temperatures; from comfortable in Juneau to downright chilly in Skagway.

Unfortunately I can't tell you about the local culture, people, or cuisine as I have literally no time to get off my ship to explore those aspects of the region, but depending on my first paycheck or two, that may change as well, and just know that I will keep you all updated. And on a quick tangent before I share a few pictures I've managed to take of the great white north, after being offline for nearly a week, I log in to nearly 100 followers! That's amazing and I'm glad that so many people are interested in what I have to say and what I think. At this rate, I'll be at 1,000 followers in no time, and while I haven't thought of it yet, I'll try to come up with something to do for all of you when that time comes, maybe even offer a little Steem, but who knows?

And now for those promised pics:20170725_092805.jpg20170725_092811.jpg20170725_152313.jpg20170725_153448.jpg

miss it some times, its hate and love at the same time.
