Is dairy scary?

in #anarchy6 years ago (edited)

This afternoon, I gave a presentation to a group of students. It was called 'Veganarchy - why veganism and anarchy are the only choices for an ethically minded person'

I started by saying that I lived in contradiction and that I had eaten more meat ands dairy in my life because I was more than double their age.

I then went on to ask then what they thought anarchy was. The usual answers came up - chaos, lawlessness, doing whatever you please having no rules. I would have definitely said the same at their age. It's amazing how the word like so many others, has been corrupted. I explained that it simply means no RULERS. I talked about the non aggression principle and I said that for me, it extends to all sentient beings.

I then showed them this film which I think is extremely well put together.

I am not sure what they all felt although I did get some feedback that many were shocked but were positive about the session. The 'president' of this society I was speaking to was clearly offended by the graphic scenes and language in the film. I found it very ironic that he complained about the graphic scenes and language when this is actually what is taking place in many countries in the world including the UK.

It reminded me of a recent incident outside Mcdonalds, where someone complained to the police because i had used the words 'jerked off' to describe what they do to Bulls, as she does in this film. Never mind that Mcdonalds are complicit in this act of molestation and the brutal slaughtering of millions of beings, he was offended by a couple of words! And the police are threatening to prosecute me!

Its January and I don't know if any of you have heard of Veganuary but theres still a couple of week for you to try out a vegan diet. Do on - I dare you! give them poor animals a break!

Comments welcome.

I really like what you are doing here no matter how disturbing I found that short video. I've seen other videos that are equally disturbing which is why I became a vegan.

It's not been a whole year yet but it is getting close. And, after I figured out how to get enough food and protein in my diet from plant based foods I felt better physically, mentally and because I am human, emotionally as well.

And my definition of anarchy which can be found in Meriam Webster's dictionary as well: a utopian society of individuals who enjoy complete freedom without government.

I'm Resteeming this puppy in hopes that it will do us all some good.

Thanks. I have just gone past my 1 year anniversary as a vegan. It was my 9 year old who become vegan first and got me into it!

Hello @Dannyshine, i'm Shawn Sagoo, i've been following you on youtube for many years now, thank you so much for being so outspoken and educating the public and all the law enforcement officers and also all the big and small cooperations. thank you. by the way i live in London, if you ever need a camera man, hit me up. you can find me on instagram or twitter or fb.

Good to hear from you. Do you follow me on Facebook? I might need someone on Tuesday. I am planning some fun at a blockchain event in london. Are you around?

Not sure what it is, perhaps it's the heightened awareness by Veganuary, but I've lately been a bit put off by drinking cows milk.

I'm not vegan - but I've been having only Soya milk over the last week just to give it a go as I saw it in Aldi, and the idea of going back to regular is a bit off putting. Something just doesn't feel right about it.

I didn't even intend to have 'going vegan' as the end goal but it's just a gradual realisation that there are options. And quite importantly 'substitutes' for what we're used to. Maybe campaigns of late are actually having an effect. Sometimes it just needs a nudge.

Yaaayyyy!!!! Every little change helps :) MUCH LOVE!

have you watched the film above? that should help put you off!!

Yep, just before I posted. Sobering stuff.

That’s great! Every small step counts 🌱

An eye opening concept for me was the idea that dairy and eggs are also a feminist issue - these are the products of the female's reproductive system.

People would much rather argue over the precise words that we use rather than look at the bigger picture at what’s really going on. Maybe they use those petty problems to distract themselves from the obvious reality of the meat and dairy industry 🤷🏼‍♂️

Thank you sharing your views on this, and I definitely think that veganism is a form of anarchy 🔥

Very good film, I sent it to few of my friends. I'm also not consuming dairy products since May last year, and meat for a couple of years now, but I still eat eggs... I know about the eggs industry, and the killing of the poor male chicks, and still... I am sure it will come too.

Eggs was the last thing i put down and I still occasionally eat things that have a bit of egg in, but those things are usually unhealthy so I'll eventually be strict about that too.

The truth can be harsh. Teaching your fellow humans about these issues is a great cause, thank you for that @dannyshine!
Erin Janus has a number of those maybe shocking but must watch videos on her youtube channel.
I hadn't heard of Veganuary but I'm trying out a vegan diet.

Great! Did you film it?

No whey man!

Wow hard hitting. I am 90% vegan now only it at work!!! Working hard on it, cut out milk though :) 💯🐒
