The pillars of Hercules look beautiful in this photo. It always amazes me how close the Atlas Mountains come to southern Spain.

The rock of Gibraltar and the Altas mountains on the African side are sometimes called the pillars of Hercules. In Greek mythology Hercules is said to have pushed these rocks apart so that there would be room for the water to flow.
