  1. Boops boops

Known also by the name bogue, this species of seabream is named for it's large eyes. The scientific name is derived from an ancient Greek word meaning 'cow-eye'.

  2. "Headless Chicken Fish"

    Enypniastes eximia
When the Oceaneering ROV team came across this creature during a deep sea survey in 2007 (second image) the group referred to the creature as a 'headless chicken fish'.
    I can see why.

  3. "Bone-Eating Snot Flower Worm"

    Osedax mucofloris
These 1-2cm long deep-sea tube worms have been extensively studied due to their fascinating qualities. Their respiratory system is unique as is their method of feeding on whale bone at the deepest imaginable depths of the ocean.
