Amphitrite Point Lighthouse is an active lighthouse near Uclulelet on the west coast of Vancouver Island. Named after Amphitrite, the sea goddess and wife of Poseidon in Greek mythology.
The first lighthouse at this site was a small wooden tower erected in 1906, the original structure was destroyed by waves in 1914. It took about eight months to build a replacement structure. The new concrete lighthouse was completed in March 1915, and is what is still standing today.
Amphitrite Point is exposed to frequent gale-force winds, tidal waves and is also in a tsunami inundation zone, the lighthouse derives its peculiar shape and construction so that it is able to withstand the strong westerly storms coming off the Pacific Ocean.
It was staffed by Canadian Coast Guard lighthouse keepers from 1915 until 1988, when it was automated.

Tsunami warnings ... yes, you do get a few of those a year. We are little more fortunate with you guys standing between us the big waves. The shots were superb of this little watchtower. Its little red roof against the blue of the water and sky and earth tones of the land is striking.
Felicitaciones, me gustan las fotos especial el faro antiguo.
Great photos !!!
Brief but rich in content, it is an interesting read coupled with beautiful pictures.
With the availability of GPS and such these days, it is nice to see that there are still lighthouses active. Michigan has our share of them with the Great Lakes and all. It is fun visiting them and they provide great photo opportunities. You have taken some really nice pictures here!
Excelente post, muy buenas fotos. Gracias por compartir.
Awesome photos bro!
Resteemed, would be great if you could introduce me to some of your followers!
That whole lighthouse loop is awesome. I wonder how thick the walls are?
The pacific scenery is beautiful! Very nice
I love this area, the storms are amazing. Last time I was there I saw warning signs about wolves everywhere from Ucluelet to Tofinio.
