One of the first things I saw when entered Hive was this great competition made by @juliakponsford. Her Art Explosion was one of my favorite contests I joined many times.
And when seeing the subject of this one, my first thought was, YES! This is great for the piece I am working on.
And it said express yourself..
One of the emotions I am in these days, among many others..is doubt.
Doubt about life, future, how things will change, will they change..
So, this one was made influenced with those thoughts.
I managed to make few photos of the process. Unfortunately, I already started with paint when I saw contest. But still I hope you will be able to see process.
I think you are able to see pencil drawing that is under color. For this kind of subject, like portrait is, drawing is essential.
Work is made on canvas board. Watercolor is technique made usually on paper. But lately I managed to prepare surface of canvas for watercolor paints. And now I can say it's my thing. Love how watercolor works on this kind of surface.
some closer view
Like on paper, you need to wait for color to dry if you have puddles of water. And since I work with lot of water, this is taking time. But result is great.
Here is final look. Hope you will like it.
And again, thanks @juliakponsford for making effort and continuing with great contests and ideas.
See you soon!
Thanks!
A pleasure to see your work.
Thank you and nice to meet you too!

Beautiful! I love the colors and the atmosphere a little bit dark.
Hi Barbara! Thank you, I am happy you enjoy my work as well I enjoy in yours!
This is gorgeous, you always manage to convey so much emotion in the eyes!
just a reminder to leave a link in the comments so I don't miss it for judging! https://peakd.com/hive-158694/@juliakponsford/art-explosion-84-theme-express-yourself-30-hive-in-prizes
I did it, but as I see with a day delay.
Thank you, I really enjoy your contests each time.
Truly lovely @jungwatercolor and how are you today? I meant to submit for this, but I'm finding it hard to catch up even though I am home more? odd. I think this is open until tomorrow, so maybe I'll see if I can finish up a thing I was working on.
This blue and cool colour story really expresses our world right now, eh?
I just saw your work for Artexplosion and it's great as usual. So YOU, it's terrific how you have recognizable style.
I been ''down'' a bit since it;s been a month now I'm in my flat with several going out to shop and back.
I paint a lot but it's spring outside in full glory and we have 24/7 quarantine for weekend in my country. It's complete madness but ..politic..
Oh @jungwatercolor that is so bad. We, too, are in a sort of lockdown, though we are allowed to go out and about with not really any policing, but as you know I live on the sea in the country and so I go out ONLY when I need to get more water and food, which hasn't been very often.
The funny thing is I am only MORE aware of how much I already self-isolate because other than doing a few days outtings in ONE I am at home the same amount of time, as I'm such a recluse hermit anyway :/
I feel bad for the social butterfly and the extroverts, they must really feel trapped and of course for any tiny apartment dwellers...
Keep your chin up! Oh and I'm glad you thought my last piece still 'my style' sometimes I think I veer off a bit, but I guess not :)
Well, same here. Since I quit my office day job in November I lived sort off isolated way. Painting for several days and than doing errands or seeing friends.
But this is different, when you know you can't step outside because you can get arrested :(
My problem is, when you say to me something can't be done, than I want to do it :))))
But, this will pass like all things do, than we will see how new world really looks like.
