This is my time!

in #art3 years ago

Every now and then, I break it up. It’s usually photography, but there are times I’m compelled to sit and write. Being a prolific writer was a goal of mine in 2020. Don’t confuse that with being a prolific blogger. Posting pinup photography and sharing some thoughts on the shoot isn’t exactly writing. A writer, like @tarazkp and @ericvancewalton, is something that takes tremendous dedication and endurance. I wanted to improve my writing. I wanted to sharpen my ability to convey my thoughts in a readable format. Free writes are my opportunity to do just that.

I had a great conversation with @lovejoy today, and a few discussions with the guys at Cryptowriter. @robrigo is another great catalyst for deeper thinking as well. I’ve been thinking about what is happening right now in this space, in relation to where we were in 2017, and where we’re going. @lovejoy, @mada, @iamredbar and I used to sit around @caffetto and share “secret knowledge” and insights in to the upcoming ICO’s that would surely make us all rich. In 2017, it was easy to feel like you had some divine cosmic knowledge because it was nearly impossible to fail. Virtually every shitcoin 20x’ed.

It’s different now. You have to be more discriminating about what projects you invest in. Bitcoin used to go up, bringing everything with it. When it went down, the market bled. For most of 2021, Bitcoin sucked all the air out of the alt coin market as it broke ATH after ATH. Altcoin season is finally upon us, though. @hiveio is making big gains, but there’s something else unique to this bull run. NFT’s. The ubiquitous acceptance that art is a value in and of itself, across the blockchain ecosystem.

This is the event I’ve been waiting for. I’ve been blogging on this platform since the summer of 2016, sharing my art and photography, earning cryptocurrency. I’ve been through the journey of our token at $0.08, and HBD’s that hit $34. Additionally, I’ve learn so much about this technology and the subsequent trends. I couldn’t be positioned better than I am to take advantage of the NFT revolution and I’m so excited for it! @nftshowroom even giving us a place to mint here on Hive. Hype!

As the Art Director at @eos.detroit, we landed a great working relationship with Topps Digital. I’ve had to the chance to do Garbage Pail Kids, Mars Attacks and a couple other releases still to come. Our company as a block producer has used art to strengthen the DPOS community, while supporting projects and games like Dark Country, KOGS, WAX and Telos. I’m confident in my ability, and equally confident in our portfolio.

This is my time. It feels so good to know that. In 2012, I photographed a well known pinup model during my first trip to LA. Immediately after that, bookings poured in. Opportunity after opportunity arose, and each time I capitalized on those moments, my photography career was propelled further. Even while I was living it, I knew it. I feel that it’s happening again, but with comics and illustration; my first love. I’ve waited my entire life for the coalescence of time, talent and opportunity. Carpe diem!

I'll have to check that out. Also, I hope you're doing alright in these crazy times.

Doing well, @raizel! Hope you’ve found peace through this wild time as well.

I really hope that "my time" becomes the mindset of every person on Hive and in crypto in general. It is our time to change the world through our thoughts, words and actions. Good luck out there!

I’ve always been astounded by your output, @tarazkp. Not just how often you write and contribute, but the quality of writing you are always consistently doing. We Hive OG’s have been through it all. I feel like no one is prepared for these opportunities like the survivors, lol

It is definitely a very exciting time. I wasn't really invested in the 2017 run like I am now, so this is all really new to me still. I hear you about having to be really careful about what you invest in this time around. I have definitely had some hits and misses over the years. It has been a real pleasure to be able to work with you this past year. I look forward to the future!

Likewise, @bozz. @eos.detroit has been like steering a pirate ship through troubled waters, especially during the 2019 period. We’ve found our way and it’s been such a journey. This year is going to be nuts!

I am so excited!

It sounds like the stars aligned for you, that's an awesome feeling to have nowadays

Things have certainly aligned with the blockchain world, @creativemary. I think they have for you and all other artists right now. This is a golden opportunity for all of us. Have you experimented with any NFT’s?

Not yet. I just started to play with digital art, it is so unusual for me but yet very exciting. I heard many great things about minting and actually earning as an artist from such platforms. I have heard about rarible, knownorigin, nftshowroom, superare and many more. Are you on any of them? I consider in the future an Ipad, I have heard and seen great stuff about procreate. I saw your illustrations, you are awesome. How were your early days with digital art? Any useful advices for a beginner in such a thing?

Congratulations on all of your successes! It feels great to put in the work and finally have those doors open, doesn't it?

It's almost as though we have to prove to the universe (or whatever higher power you believe in) that we're fully committed to our craft. Ophelia and I created our first NFT for my latest book but it's not getting any traction on SuperRare. We'll have to check out this new NFT marketplace!

I'm going to enjoy watching these opportunities unfold for you this year!

Thanks, @ericvancewalton! I'm proud of myself for utilizing the forced time off last year. I keep saying, "...the lost year", but it really wasn't for me. I've taken a couple months off from even thinking about the book, but soon I'll be going back and re-reading it from the beginning, doing my first round of edits, then trying to hire a British editor for the final pass. After that, looking in to publishing, but since it's entirely blockchain based, I'm considering some weird possibilities. I was even thinking about airdropping it as an NFT. Still thinking about what to do.

Where are you at with COVID? Are you doing masked outings at all? I'd love to catch up, maybe have tea. We can talk NFT's. I have some strategies for you. I also have a big project coming up I'd love to share with you.

My pleasure! I feel the same way about my last book. I'm so glad we used our time in lockdown wisely. I haven't been vaccinated yet so the wife and I aren't meeting with anyone indoors yet but once it gets warm enough to meet outside, or I get vaccinated (whichever comes first), I would definitely be up for getting together. Can't wait to hear about the new project!

Good luck on that journey!

Hello Lars: Albeit late, just before the cut-off, I checked your post. Very informative: I would need to learn how NFT works. A personal friend does well on there. I am an old dog that has a hard time learning new tricks.
As for writing, I understand. In my years at Academia, I did quite a bit of it (term papers mostly, like this one), but not much since then, other than a few short stories. Well, maybe the odd rant on my website blog, particularly lately about the crazy times we live in.
