Even when I try to do something funny...
Ghosts will still be involved.
Last week I made a post about one of the comics featured in my comic anthology, What Happens In The Dark, so for this post I'm going to share the second comic you'll find in the book.
This story was inspired by those urban legends/actual issue of people in ye olden days not being 100% sure whether a person was dead or not. I've read many a story of people being presumed dead and then buried only to wake up trapped inside a coffin. Truly the stuff of nightmares.
I wanted to do something more light-hearted in comparison to most of my other comics so even though this comic is based off of a dark premise, I was going for more over-the-top/slap-stick humor.
Enjoy
Thank you for taking the time to read this till the end.
I've been illustrating a Lovecraftian horror series, Ithaqa, created by @drwatson who has been writing about the series on his Steemit account, so be sure to check his posts out.

Heh, it's great -- that old man is a true fighter, never falls back and is skilled with all weapons! You know the phrase "saved by the bell"? It is supposed to refer to little bells over the graves with cords inside the coffin, so that if the person entombed was mistakenly thought of as dead, he could sound the bell and be saved! That's horrifying on its own!
Great work with the Ithaca comic, too, I hope it all works out with it.
Yes! I was originally going to have him hear the bell ringing but ended up cutting it out; I felt I didn't have enough time in the 8 pages to give context to the bell with all the other bits I wanted to fit in.
Thanks for the feedback!
I remember when I looked at this page on your website I was like 70% sure I was going to hire you regardless of who else submitted to my ad haha.
I always chuckle when the old man says "shit"
Haha that's so funny! And yeah, that's my favorite part. That and him chopping the zombie's head off with his shovel.
It is funny how he goes through all the vampire destroying techniques until he reaches one that works: MATCHES.
In Denmark we have an old naval hero on the match-box, but I don't think they can match the American ones :) they go completely napalm on that graveyard!
Anyways, very cool with our and @drwatsons comic-project, somhow we comic artists should see if we could support each other somehow. I have reshared :)
Third time's the charm haha. Thank you for the feedback! I agree and I think Steemit is a great place for artists to share their work and connect with one another.
Great discovering the comic artists here on Steemit. =)
Upvoted, following.
What a beautiful illustration for a creepy story! You are very good at keeping a coherent style for all of the frames. My style is all over the place. Making a character look the same in many poses is a true skill.
Thank you! I actually sometimes worry about whether or not I keep a character looking consistent. Luckily for me, I think the comic medium is a little more forgiving then animation might be.
You made me laugh, a lot! Old man is great, this is one great comic !
Glad to hear! Thanks for the feedback :)
Now that was a helluva zombie fight! Great fight scene with a perfectly set mood.
Glad you enjoyed it :)
