Urbansketches: #9 Vancouver - Gasclock

in #art6 years ago (edited)

Wandering around downtown Vancouver you'll pretty soon find yourself in Gastown and this Gasclock is the first of just a few in the world, being build in 1977. It works with steam and every quarter of the hour it plays some music with the pipes on top. If you want to know more about it, go here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steam_clock or here: https://www.atlasobscura.com/places/steam-clock-gastown-vancouver

Loads of tourists stand around it, waiting for it, the camera on the ready to take a short video. I just sat down and tried to capture the situation. The house in the back being illuminated by violett lights, the people standing around waiting for the perfect shot. On the picture I made the time to be around twenty minutes to eleven, but I sat there at least from half past ten to 11.15 pm drawing my picture and enoying slowtravel...
