Kia ora, Hive community

I'm a poet, performer, and occasional visual artist from New Zealand with a background in clinical psychology and a long history of activism in the mental health space.

My poetry has been published in all sorts of journals, anthologies, and textbooks, and my doctoral research exploring medication withdrawal appears in several peer reviewed journals, but I'm keen to find another platform for sharing my work. So my husband has finally managed to convince me to join the Hive. He has been here for a year, I don't know what took me so long to join in.

I'm looking forward to discovering what other creatives are up to, sharing some of my own creative work, and possibly finding another place to write about mental health. So if you're into poetry, art, psychology and/or social activism please hit follow and keep an eye out for my upcoming posts.

Tomorrow I'm going to start by sharing a series of poetry book boxes. Part object art, part poetry book these pieces are set inside discarded gift boxes with found objects, collage and original poetry.

Welcome to hive, happy to see new members coming here! There is a community on hive dedicated to mental health not sure but feel free to search and you will find :)
I love the poem, we all have untold stories that need retelling
I send you some !LUV
and an !invest_vote

Thanks for the welcome. I have had a quick search and it seems there is not a lot of mental health or psychology content on here so far. Although so much art and poetry deals with this. For a minute I thought there was some kinda Obsessive Compulsive Disorder community but turns out OCD does NOT mean what I think it means here lol.

Good one with OCD :) I had the same mistake ;)
Welcome to Hive, there is not enough here of everything (though there is plenty :) ) so any contribution is welcome

Glad I'm not the only one! I found a couple of old defunct communities that seem to have faded out, so I've set up a new one, let's see what happens! I am still feeling this whole space out. Check out C/Psychology if interested. Tis very much in progress, but it's got a description and rules and a beginning post! Good things take time right?

The link does not seem to work. https://ecency.com/created/hive-123394 should do it :)

I once saw a post rewarded with a thank you for writing about the importance of mental health.

I know there is some users struggeling with their own problems . One who is openly talking about that on hive is @stayten I recommend to read his thoughts and also to listen to his music.

Welcome to Hive @mirilarbarr. A lovely idea for a Community for this area health.

Happy to hear that you chose Hive as your social media platform to bring awareness to mental health.

Did you know that when you publish your articles on hive.blog, you are allowed 8 tags. However, when you publish your posts on Peakd, you are allowed to use 10 tags. The more tags you use, the more exposure you may possibly receive for your published posts.

For example, if you write about poetry, you can utilize the tags:
#artwork
#creativecoin
#poetry
#writing
#story
#neoxian
#palnet

Hope to engage with you again soon. Have a good start to you week. Take care,

Great tips! So tricky to figure out the tags people use and search for. What does neoxian mean?

Neoxian is one of the Communities on Hive. As with any Community, you must first subscribe to it.

Good day, @mirilarbarr!

If you may, I would like to invite you to join a community called Inspire People, where you may find and post inspiring and uplifting content. It's for everyone who wants to write or read inspirational stories. May the community feed the soul.

Please do visit if you are interested. We're currently recruiting members to join the community.

"Your life is your message to the world. Make sure it's inspiring."

Oh cool thanks for the heads up!

Thank you for your interest.

Hi there, welcome to Hive! Yes, as you've found out, OCD means something totally different here! I'm part of the curation team and we're here to support new users, and growing communities. It's great than you're setting up a new community for mental health, I've seen quite a few posts around but nothing specifically for it (not that I've really been looking). Hopefully it will take off, and once it gains traction, maybe get in touch with OCD to see if they will support it under their Community Incubation program.

On your introduction post, you can add the introduceyourself tag, it will help to get more exposure as people are always checking out the tag for new users.

Last and not the least, often we get quite a lot of imposters on Hive. It would be a good idea to add your Hive account link to your website, it saves you a lot of hassle in the long run and protects yourself from these imposters who try to monetise your content.

Enjoy your Hive journey!

Epic gratitude for your thoughtful tips! Adding tag now.

Welcome to Hive blog, @mirilarbarr. I'm really happy you're giving it a go. I have given out all my LUV for the day. I will call on the bot tomorrow when it's refreshed.

Between the post and the answers in the comments I believe you have said quite a bit for not saying too much @mirilarbarr! lol
I have read long posts that have not said this much! Welcome to Hive!
More to follow!

Hahaha! Oh this made me laugh. I am a wordy one.

Welcome to the Hive community @mirilarbarr!
We sincerely hope you find everything you are looking for and have found a new home here.

Seven suggestions to consider:

  1. Guard your passwords carefully, and only publish with the posting key,
  2. Use your active key only for wallet transactions, keychain and Hivelock,
  3. The master password is only used to reset compromised passwords,
  4. DO NOT lose your passwords; copy and store offline,
  5. Do not publish other people's work, be it photos or written, without credit, and
be sure to source all of your work, even if it is your own
    .
  6. An introduceyourself tag is used only once , and
  7. Do Not open any links in memos or comments that you do not know who they belong to. If it sounds too good to be true it probably is, so the old saying goes. There is nothing free here.

I found you because @brittandjosie and @jamerussell from @heyhaveyamet presented and promoted your publication to get more exposure and help you grow faster.

If you find yourself overwhelmed and need some guidance, or if you have any questions, there are informed Hivians available who can help you; you can click to go to The Terminal in Discord here:

Have fun and happy Hiving!

Thanks Jamerussel!
