It's the Z-end: Welcome to the Zombie Apocalypse CHAPTER 21

March 28, 2012 13:14 PM

I'm calmer now. When I looked out on the terrace at dawn I thought that what I saw was a nightmare, with the total darkness of seeing such a situation, dozens of infected people, it was a terrifying scene. With the light of day it's much more peaceful but just as surprising, it's definitely a reality, they're there.

The night is coming, everything will be completely dark again, I won't be able to see them. And I have a strange feeling that they know I'm here, or at least there's meat around here somewhere.

Well, the best I can do is write while I'm smoking this cigarette, things are over and done with, but I'm getting ahead of myself.
It was about 20:00 p.m.. I was talking to Serafin, my neighbor. And practically the only human being left here with me. Even communications miraculously work, we actually tried talking on the phone and it worked well, but I suppose the need to talk to hear a voice is enormous.

When I entered the house, I passed all my stuff to the terrace, as it is the only place where I can see all my street and even part of the main street. Place the application to listen to the military frequencies, while having a coffee.

At first I couldn't understand what happened so well. The first thing was the sound. Everything was completely silent and I started to hear a strange noise, as if something was being dragged along by the asphalt but very subtle, followed by what might be a slight grunt. I went on high alert and the first thing I did was turn off the phone. After a moment I saw a man, he was dressed in civilian clothes. He was wearing a white dress shirt and blue jeans. He had a horrible chest wound and all his clothes were full of blood. Behind him there were more men, women and even children. Everything presented some kind of wound, I remember seeing many without arms, even... I remember seeing an old man crawling, both his legs were missing. The color of his skin was pale, veins were visible to the naked eye. The movements were slow but sudden, they seem to have coordination problems. They kind of remind me of someone walking around drunk, after a night out partying.

Many of them have wounds that would have to be mortals of need, and yet they keep on moving. This is unbelievable.

At first there were a few, but those few became thousands, I don't know, but at one point the street reminded me of a manisestation against the president, only a silence, which was broken by grunts and rough blows against the asphalt. They're a fucking crowd and they're all headed straight for the center, for the safe spot. They don't tire, they don't feel pain, and even with amputations they go on their way. Unstoppable.

The reason they're heading that way is more than obvious. Many people are in the center of the city and every human crowd has to make noise. And in the absolute silence of these nights full of walking corpses, I can hear it from afar. From here, over a mile away. I can go to Speaker sounds, power generator noise, vehicle noise. All that sound is a magnet for this violent and eager crowd of human bodies. They're all going over there, they're gonna fall on them and there's nothing they can do.
