Until now I have used knives only for the boring ,depressing act of chopping vegitables.Recently I happened to see an ad about this knife painting classes going on in my town.As always attracted by colours, paint and creativity I didn't had to think twice. It turned out to be a good decision and also a good start to the year doing something am passionate about.
These are my two completed paintings from the class.
And these are my very own set of brand new painting knives which just arrived yesterday😁
I have more pictures of these knives than of my paintings.Love them😊
So basically in knife painting we use palette knife or painting knives to streak and blob the paints to the canvas for that extra affect. You get a thick textured effect to the paintings. We can't totally ditch the painting brushes. We need them for background and for those fine detailing.
Used flat brush for the background of first picture.
Can you see the beautiful thick texture it forms?
I am not sure if it is visible in these picture but in real it does have a kind of 3d effect
Acrylic colours in tubes were used. You can also use oil colours but it will take lot of time to dry up.And one thing that bothers a bit is that the quantity of colours you will be using will be more than other types of paintings. But who cares😊
Loved the way that trees turned out with real rough barky effect.
I did mess up here and there. Will need a lot of practicing, which I'll be happy to carry out😁
Spending time to learn something you are passionate about really gives us a content feeling.
Happy steeming

Nice work. Please keep posting your painting
Clickbait :P First the I thought of adding 'palette/painting knife' in the title.Later kept as just knife to make it a bit interesting.Lolss

You bring us some spring! Lovely pictures, i haven't known this technique before.
I found it quite simple.A single stroke of palette knife will give you an impressive mark.
Great and amazing post.
