While researching another artist, I came across Nikolai Chekhov.

There was not much information about him and I could only find a few paintings he did but I thought I would share what I could find anyway.

Chekhov was a Russian painter born on May 23rd, 1858 in Taganrog, Russia. He was the brother of Anton Chekhov, the famous playwright and short-story writer. Chekhov studied at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. However, he never finished his schooling due to alcoholism. He would spend many weeks at a time living on the streets of Moscow because of his addiction.

Not only did he paint, Chekhov would also illustrate Anton's stories.

Although he was a chronic alcoholic, it wasn't what ended his life at 31. While living in Kharkiv Province, Russian Empire (what is now the Ukraine), Chekhov contracted tuberculosis. His death influenced Anton's novella A Boring Story.

Anyway, thanks for coming by! Don't forget to follow!
