Merging Old Technology With New Technology: SpiroArt -- Art Explosion Week #27 Conest Entry

in #artexplosion6 years ago (edited)

Hello, Steemians!

As some of you may know, I have a business called WondrousCre8tions where I create designs to go on print-on-demand products. So, for this Art Explosion challenge, I decided to create a new design!

The theme is technology, so I wanted to do something a little different. I decided to pull out my Spirograph! I actually only discovered the existence of the Spirograph a little over a year ago, and then I got one. I'm a little bit obsessed with it.

However, I thought it would be perfect, because the Spirograph (to my surprise) actually isn't anything new. But, it is super cool! So I thought merging it with modern technology might produce something pretty awesome.

And it didn't disappoint.

The first thing that I did was make a small design with the Spirograph. I took a short timelapse video of it- I apologize because the lighting isn't the best. But you get the idea.

The design I made in this video turned out looking like this:

I then kept adding to it until it looked like this:

Don't the silver and gold pens look so cool on that pink paper?!

Anyway, then I put it in an editing program so I could have some more fun with it:

Next I added the Purple Mandala SpiroArt design to various products, and these were the results:

I thought this contest would also be a good way to introduce this collection! This is only the first design in my Mandala SpiroArt collection, and there will be much more creativeness to follow :)

So what are your thoughts, Steemians? I think it turned out pretty neat!

I think this turned out to be very pretty! It's a unique style! I really like the way the gritty/grungy textures you added work with the slightly displaced symmetry! Has a very handmade vibe which is nice to see when there is so much CG (which I do love!) art being created! The time lapse adds interest, and probably rings a few bells for those of us who remember the original Spirographs! Nice way to bring it back! Thank you for sharing your designs! Re Steemed :)

Thank you @erinn, for your great feedback! It's interesting to hear your opinions on this as someone who played with a Spirograph in their childhood! I'm excited to work on the other designs for this collection :D

Thank you for the entry!
