Next page of my 100% hand painted watercolour and thinliner, sci-fi/surreal/post-machinae graphic-novel.
In the previous page, wich you can find here the "being", name given "Tlal" did hatch out of the biogenesis silo. Devlok and her, sitting on Phtae's nanomorphed motorbike are now heading back to the Templar's interception ship while bisecting some more erratic techno-zombies!
Details
If you don't know, "Devlok, the Techno-Templar" is a 54 pages illustrated story I wrote and produced between 2016 and 2017 in Berlin. I self-published it through two volumes (European format - Soft cover) comprising more short stories and art.
Story-board
Unfortunately, like explained in the last posts about the comic, I don't have any photos of the progress towards the end of the production. I believe I was in a hurry to meet an already way passed deadline, but here's the story-board!
Thank you Steemoids, for having read my post!

I love how you drew tubes and the vast expanse of space. It's always lovely for me to see how dedicated you are to your comic.
Congratulations for your curie vote ^_^.

Wow, so awesome and what an incredibly detailed post. I love your linework style and use of color - watercolor is such a beautiful medium. Can’t wait to see more!

thanks @curie, you rock .)
Thanks for taking us through this, @haedre. Always fascinating to see how comics get put together. I find it more interesting just because you need not only be drawing, but telling a story in a sequential format. So, things you might want to highlight often needs to fall back for the sake of the story.
When you were doing this, did you find yourself needing to rearrange focus, or were you pretty much able to decide what needed to be done from frame to frame? I'm sure this took a long time to put together, too.
Congratulations, too, on the curie and the c-squared curation. Very much deserved.
The tunnel looks like real one..the inside view and the outside view both are so accuratelly done. You got some meaningful magic in your hand and love for water color is quite visible in these strips....i can say simply awesome......thanks for sharing the wonder world of water color...steem on

I also consider documenting how I work, but I am always in a hurry and forget about it...
I can imagine, that is exactly why towards the end I have almost no pictures. But usualy with watercolour having to dry I often do take pictures, also now with smartphones it's just so easy.
I dig the sci-fi style. This one gives off the good old dystopian future feel. Your other works are amazing too. I like watching illustrations with surreal feels to it. Ever made something along the lines of horror?
Devlok's look = 😏
hehehe
Awesome panels again @haedre! 🎨🎉👏👏👏
I absolutely adore this style!
It has a hint of the Jean Giraud/Moebius feel and that is incredibly sweet~
Thank you for sharing :D !!!
I love how much detail you include in your comics. She even has the lashes and he has forehead wrinkles! :) Also that tunnel is greatly illustrated. You have a perfect sense of space and perspective. It sounds like a lot of work to make such watercolor. I didn't even know you can make so many details with this technique :) Lovely work!
Congratulations on your curie vote! Very well deserved!
I am missing the zombies on the drawing but the comic in itself is very cool and with great details. I have known watercolor painting to be more difficult than others because of the material composition. Once you put it in, it's there and very hard to retouch. But that does not seem to be the case with your painting. The whole comic seem to have been drawn with ease. I specially like those strips with Devlok and Tlal. The colors always catch my attention first. 😊
Are these strips you are posting here a remake of your illustration? Or are you taking photos from your previous publication?
I usually do this because my thinking is that people would just care about the end product. However I got to the point wherein I was asked of the "in between" progress as proof that the paper art is mine. Okaayyy... 😄
By the way, congratulations on the curie vote. That only means your artwork is really great! 👍
Hey thank you @macoolette for your comment! About the zombies, the paragraph speaks about the previous page(s), that you can find here. I didn't really put links for previous and next pages on each post but if you scroll down my profile hidding resteems, you'll find the whole story.
Not sure if I get entirely your question but what I post here are each time one page of the complete story with succinct comments and pictures if there are some. So, no there aren't any remake. But the publication is now out for a year.
For the comic I have no boss, so no pressure to take or not to take photos :)
Thanks again!
Yeah, right! I totally agree with you. 😂 Let the viewers be imaginative of what's in between.
Thank you for the clarifications to my questions. I now have better idea of your series posts. 😊
very good your watercolor, excellent domain, I love how you handle the light in the locations. the appearance of the characters half machine half human and the Templar are in line with the surrealism, I never imagined that the insect or whatever, was bigger in proportion than the others. I like the Story-board. gave me more understanding of how you imagined the action before drawing it.
great friend your work is impressive, and with the directions I will go right now to see more of your work.
thank you for sharing, greetings
That is awesome, I like to see the initial sketch first and then to see how you build it up, that helps beginners to overcome their fears and do start to create too. It is like when you see a castle on the top of mountain you think that is not possible to reach but is someone will show you which hook and rock to use in order to climb up that becomes clear that you also can reach the castle. I really appreciate you for sharing your secrets :)
Man, this is something.
I especially like the first one, with Tlal and Devlok on the bike. You have a way of getting the facial expressions right. And you maintain that high level of detailing with the other drawings.
This is really good

Wow this is a true quality post, I do not imagine how many hours of work it took you to do all this from beginning to end, It's amazing, you have a great talent and I loved what you did really LOVE IT. A big hug @haedre!!
Hmmm so what's the difference between European format and Soft cover? Is europan one the hard cover? Anyway, those graphics are amazing! So when you self publish, does that mean you just pay it all yourself? How many pieced did you print then? And do you sell them or it's just for family/friends as e.g Christmas presents? I was never into this type of comic books but I looooove manga! Read naruto and bleach :)
Thanks @matkodurko for commenting and questionning!
European format is usually DIN A4 (8,2 x11,8 in). Around 54 pages and indeed mostly hard cover. That makes them quite expensive so it's a tough passion to cope with when you're young. Soft covers are sometimes still used from new projects with not too many copies involved. If you go over 3000 copies in one batch, you might consider using hardcovers.
In my case, self-publishing was with my personal saving but mostly with various successful crowdfundings. In total I printed and sold till today around 1500 books (of that Devlok's story), including French and English versions over book 1 and 2. A big part is already presold through the crowdfundings and the rest I sell online, in a few physical shops but mainly in fairs and other art related events.
Mangas are great, the Japanese really quickly came with their own narrative and graphic style. My favorites are Akira, Ghost in the Shell and BLAME!
Oh nice, 1500 is quite a lot. I was prepared you reply maybe 200 hundreds and I'll somehow have to get out of saying it's not many hahaha :D but 1500 really is nice. And I believe that hardcover is expensive. I just paid freaking 100+ dollars for 2 copies of my Master thesis haha :D
what a beautiful blog I like very much how you made the tunnel the bricks and colors give you a lot of alum @haedre continues like that the new era
Love your style, @haedre <3 Beautiful sense of scale, and the dialog is also so cool... Wonderful page and wonderful to see how it all comes together, as always <3
I so love your worlds and of course I love seeing your work from rough story board to amazingly painted finish!
OMG !! speechless. to say that it is amazing is short ... I love it, you have a lot of talent my congratulations
Wow, now I'm delighted with your style, I feel a little science fiction and post-apocalypse.
Your watercolors are magical, fine.
It's brutal that you bet on these styles, you can see that you exploit your magic with passion.
My respects. Devlok has a great universe.
The detail in your art is quite incredible! I've gone back several times to look at it and each time I noticed something that I didn't see the first time. Amazing work.
