Bald with a beard seems like a solid look for me 🤔

I've always had a receding hairline, but when I was younger I at least was able to grow my hair longer and sort of hide it. Now that I'm in my 30s, that is becoming increasingly difficult to do. Especially because I just don't like having long hair.

For the last several months I've stopped going to the barbershop and instead have just been giving myself a buzz cut using my at-home clippers and a 1 guard. It's been working fine, but ever since I saw AI accidentally make me look like a bald badass, I cannot get the image out of my mind.

The other morning I decided to shave my head once again, but this time with no guard. The following picture is the absolute shortest I have ever had my hair. I actually like it a lot.

As you can see, there isn't much hair left, on my head. My beard and eyebrows make up for that though. So I figure I may as well just go bald so I have an even cleaner and more distinguished look. The only thing is, I'm not exactly sure how to go about it. This is why I am asking for advice from other bald men. The first one that comes to mind is @taskmaster4450 who we all know well.

I guess my question is, what are the best ways to keep your head clean-shaven other than using a razor and shaving cream?

I've seen devices such as the Pitbull Skull Shaver. This to me seems like a great option, but I don't want to waste my money on something that won't get the job done.

Another route I've considered is just going to a barbershop and letting them use a straight razor on me. That could get expensive quickly though, so I'm hesitant to do that. Why waste extra money if you don't have to?

After shaving, are there any particular creams or other substances that I should use to make sure my scalp doesn't get dry and stays shining like Mr. Clean?

These are questions that I need the answers to before I take the next step toward being bald. I'm basically there already, but I think I'll look better with zero hair on my head rather than a very tiny bit.

Let me know what you think or if you have any advice for me. The beard definitely isn't going anywhere, but I think it's time that I take my head to the next level.

Use a good razor. I shave daily in the shower. If my scalp starts getting dry, I use a little splash of olive oil. (an old Italian guy taught me this trick and it really works, haven't had a dry scalp since.) That'll keep ya shiny like Mr. Clean.

WEAR A CAP WHEN SUMMER STARTS! I try to get an hour of sun, then add a little more sun time to my bare skull each day, I hate wearing hats all summer, so once I'm tan, I can pretty much go all day without a cap. (Within reason, I wouldn't go capless at burning man or something in the desert, but for normal east coast sun, you'll be fine.)

Oil sounds like it could be useful.
I definitely have plenty of caps that I will be wearing during the summer. I think eventually my head will get used to being in the sun though.

I usually end up with a mild burn, then I'm good for the summer. I try to avoid that first burn though. Happens almost every year. 🤣 After that, I can go all day without a cap and have no problems.

That’s what happens to my entire body, but I always sunscreen my tattoos no matter how used to the sun my body gets. Probably will do the same for my head this first summer with no hair.

I use a good quality 4 bladed razor every second day. If I leave it any longer it takes too much time. I am pretty quick now but have cut myself a couple of time rushing.

Every day... wow, you must have a perfectly smooth head all of the time. That's some dedication. If I'm not happy with how the skull shaver device works, then I'll try a multi-blade razor. Thanks for the input bro!

as a bald guy that does not think a lot about that i found out that shaving is the easiest. i was trimming it with a machine for some time but shaving is faster and easier. just get a good razor, one of those 3-4x gillete super something so you don't really think about cutting yourself. If i had the will to do it every few days i cold shave myself in 2-3 minutes.
Depending on how fast it grows you can do it every 3 days or even more.

That's awesome that you are able to do it so quickly and efficiently. I'm sure it took you a bit to get used to doing, but it becomes natural after being consistent with it. I'm going to try a skull shaver first and if I don't like it I will attempt with a regular razor like you mentioned.

Bald with a beard looks very cute. The beard will not be too much so it won't be looking bushy. That's what most ladies like

Statistically, a bald man with a beard is said to appear more masculine to most females. I'm not a woman, so I have no idea if that data is actually true. I guess I will just have to see if I am approached by more women without hair than I have been with hair.

Lol daltono bald ! Seriously ?

Actually it suits you and your style. I have seen a lot people looks not so cool with their hair once they became bald ,personality had changed.

I though my hair would be gone but still it doesn't leave me alone.. 😂

It's happening sooner than you may think. I know not all bald heads are created equally. I think it'll do me just find though.

Your head doesn't look bad in this condition. But it is also true that hair enhances a person's beauty.

Luckily I have plenty of beard and eyebrows to make up for the lack of hair on my head.

I don’t have any advice for you. But I just wanted to stop by and say that you are right in thinking it suits you. You have a nice beard. And in my eyes, any man who has a beard can make up for the hair the don’t have on their head. You look great dude. Until you find a solution you like, keep it how it is!

That's exactly how I look at it. If I couldn't grow my beard, then I'd probably be scrambling to figure out how to get a hair transplant.

Well I have no advice for you but I do like the bald look. My brother and my son both shave their heads. I imagine it is much cooler in the summer and of course, much easier to care for. Go for it!

I wonder how much more prone my poor head will be to getting sunburn. I will make sure to lather it up with SPF so I don't ever have to find out 🤣 I might be wearing a lot of hats all summer.

You can let your hair grow back if you don't like your head bald. Wearing hats makes a ton of sense in any case. Few of us have thick enough hair to protect us from melanoma if we spend a lot of time outdoors.

ya lol...my brother is fair haired and freckled so he wears a bandana most times. Son wears a baseball cap. I think just for the initial acclimatization a head covering would be wise. It wouldn't be good if your scalp blisters lol

It all depends how fast your hair grows, if you go to the barbershop and get your head shaved it should last at least 10 to 15 days still bald, not sure how much they would charge, down here I think its around $10 so lets say 3 times a month thats $30 mont, $360 a year, I say its not bad if you already pay for a hear cut every month

Barbershops here would charge $40 per visit. So if I went 3 times a month that’d be nearly $1,500/year. That’s a big hell no for me 🥲

I think it’s great that you are finding what makes YOU comfortable! My husband is balding and likes to just keep all his hair trimmed low, but as time goes on I think he’s more in your camp too.

I know you asked for male opinions, I just wanted to drop some encouragement and say I LOVE that you are embracing bald. Bald men are handsome too!

I mean I'm cool with just having really short hair, but I can't help but be curious about how I'd like being totally bald. I'll find out soon.
I'll take any opinion I can get. I appreciate it.

i use my old beard to distract folks :) was just about to shave my hair up there :)

Terrorize their mind with nightmares such as “Attack of the Beard” 👹

it's my easiest trick to wake them up and to turn attention away of my head :)

Put the blade to it mate! It's so short anyway, it will grow back almost overnight... if you don't like it!

I'm going to go for it!

There is no doubt that a beard looks great on you, beard looks better on every guy these days but if we talk about ten years back then there was not so much trend of having beard but now slowly it is becoming a trend among people.

It did used to be much more socially acceptable to shave the beard off. It made you look more professional. Luckily, beards are not always thought of in that same way.

I will suggest you to buy a razer and do it yourself, You can use the razer again if you want to, but don't go to barber, it will cost you more.

I will definitely be avoiding the overpriced barber for such a simple task.

That is the most important thing, my friend, be very careful with your head when shaving. Taking care of yourself with lotions and creams is a good option.
