Bringing Back Memories!

in #beautifulsunday2 months ago

A very cold start of the day, I wondered into my old run down car and started it up and off to the 7-11 I go to grab myself some one dollar coffees, the deal is going on to the 20th of the month, so I will for sure take advantage of that deal, so I bought two.
After getting my coffee, I headed home and poured myself some cheap, but refreshing cup of orange juice. Then I settled down in my lawn chair that is set up in my bedroom, yep that's right, no couch or bed in that room, I turned on the laptop to watch some old school cartoons from the eighties. Inspector Gadget was a must watch, with it's exciting adventures and quirky characters.
As I sipped on my oj and coffee, some old commercials aired during the breaks, I saw commercials for the Heman castle, I remember owning the whole castle grey skull when I was a kid, I wish I still had it, it would be worth tons of money today, I think my Grandparents donated to goodwill from I went to college, ahh, they also aired commercials from Fruit loops, Night Bright, Cabbage Patch Kids, Care Bears, Honey Smacks cereal and Chewey Chips Ahoy, that commercial was funny, they had to get the fire department there, because the dad was stuck in a tree eating cookies. All those commercials brought back fond memories of my childhood, when things were simpler, no rent, no bills to pay, just being a kid.
Another cartoon that came on was The Littles, does anyone remember that one? a show about tiny creatures who live in the walls of a family's house. Watching these old cartoons filled me with wonder and nostalgia.

I was having a blast and then oh no I ran out of coffee and I also snapped back into reality and remembered that it was me and the wife's nine year anniversary today, yep that is right, she has put up with me for that long and our wedding anniversary is is one week from today, we have been married for almost four years, we got married at a drive-thru wedding place called the Little Log Wedding Chapel, just outside of Niagara Falls, it was faster service then the Tim Hortons drive thru

So I still have to find my wife an anniversary gift, so off I went to 7 11 for another coffee, then off to the Sarnia Flee Market, as I wandered through the crowded aisles of the flee market, I couldn't help but feel a sense of urgency, my wife will wake up from her sleep soon and I still haven't found the perfect gift yet, I scanned the various stalls, hoping to stumble upon something that would make her eyes light up with joy.
But as I sifted through the assortment of trinkets and treasures, nothing seemed to catch my eye.
But then, as if by some extra stroke of fate, I stumbled upon a table filled with some old school baseball cards, memories from my childhood came flooding back as I picked up packs of 1988 fleer baseball cards, they were only one dollar, so I had to buy it for myself, I can't give it to my wife, because she hates baseball.
I couldn't find anything for my wife there, so I went back to my car and drove home and opened up my pack of card, it had a sticker of The Cleveland Indians and The Cincinnati Reds, cards of Nolan Ryan, Kirby Puckett, Duane Ward and many many more

Hopefully I can still find a gift for her, it not I guess I am just taking her to Taco Bell tonight!!

Hmm, if I had to drive to 7-eleven to get cheap coffee, I rather just have it at home.
Anyway, hope it was worth it and you enjoy the coffee.
