Beer blogging came naturally to me due to years spent brewing for myself, working with breweries on their technology & marketing, and the decades spent imbibing. Hence, the self-decreed title of the #Blockchain #Beerologist and I have cranked up my Beerology game this year as breweries are back in full swing.

I have been getting messages from everywhere with concern over having missed a week of #beersaturday for the first time in recent history but no need for concern. A backwoods adventure took precedence and I am back with a couple limited edition pints from my favourite brewery.

Shorty of the Week

This week's shorty of the week is alike many others where it hangs out in the fridge, waiting for me to desire a slightly smaller beer than the standard pint. It is also from on of the best local breweries here named Black Swan Brewing https://blackswanbrewing.ca/



What makes it different is that I have never tasted this one, and that it is not my standard IPA! Blue Loon is an obvious play on the popular Blue Moon beer and is so exclusive that it isn't even listed on the website or online store https://blackswanbrewing.ca/show/our-beer It is a Belgian style wheat beer that is not unlike the aforementioned Blue Moon or maybe Hoegaarten. Tasty, different and the perfect shorty of the week.

Get Ye to Great Lakes Brewery!

A few of my #beersaturday pals who have been chugging blockchain pints a long time may start to get tired of me praising Great Lakes Brewery https://www.greatlakesbeer.com/ Not only was it majorly to blame for my slide into IPA obsession years ago, they have managed to keep rolling out the hits and come up with such a great IPA selection I probably buy some each trip to the beer store. I stopped by on a trip in to the studio to jam with the band and asked for something new, limited and IPA.

The first one was introduced as a lighter pale ale (compared to strong IPA) with plenty of citrus hop punch and a crushable weight. Prefect, I will have 6 of those!



Five Crossings Pale Ale https://www.greatlakesbeer.com/Beer/five-crossings/ is dedicated to Mike Shoreman who is in the process of crossing all 5 great lakes on a paddle board. The cause for mental health awareness is a good one and it it great to support those raising that awareness. I think they should be donating a percentage of the sales to the cause but maybe that is just me.

Kool Haus

With 6 decided, the next recommendation was a cold hopped double IPA. Oooooooh! What is cold hopping precious? https://www.hopculture.com/cold-ipa/ tells the tale if you would care to read. My guy yammered something about freezing the hops as they were picked, and mentioned double IPA so I was in. 6 of those too please!



There was a cold IPA in the gift pack a couple weeks ago and here we have another one in Kool Haus cold double IPA. Not listed on the website it is that exclusive! The Kool Haus was a music venue I remember catching the most epic DJ, rock and other shows at. I think it is condos now but this is a legit enough play on words for a fantastic beer in a newer style.
