King Cockatoo Bird (Probosciger aterrimus) is a kind of black and large-sized Cockatoo bird, with a length of about 60cm. This bird has a red cheek skin and a large blackish beak. In his head there is a great crest that can be established. Female birds are similar to male birds.

King Cockatoo is the only bird in the Probosciger single clan. This area of ​​bird distribution is on the islands of Irian and northern Australia. The King Cockatoo King feed consists of whole grains. The bird's beak of the King's Cockatoo can not be tightly closed, due to the size of the upper half and the lower part. And it is useful to hold and open the grain for consumption.

Although this species is threatened by the loss of forest habitat and continuing wild catch for trade, King Cockatoo is still commonly found in its habitat. King Cockatoo is evaluated as low risk in the IUCN Red List. This species is listed in CITES Appendix I.
