in #bird8 years ago

I remember the day i saw this picture the first time, i thought it is a well done made "Sesamstraße" Muppet.

But after a little research i saw that this bird is real... and it realy exist in south africa like sudan etc.

Everytime i look at this bird im so fascinated.

Let me introduce the Shoebill bird <3

did you already know him? i enjoyed to look at his pictures the first time...its like magic for me

Sort:

But where is the bird? When did it disappear?

it doesnt disappear? those shoebill birds lives in south africa!

Uff... Great! I thought you are talking about some New Zealan or (any other) bird, that had diappeared))

The dodo bird was a large round flightless bird.

They were essentially over eaten as food until lack of genetic diversity forced Mother Nature to discontinue the model . . .

There are stuff specimens in Museums.

/ hugz ; )

That looks like a bad dream with wings. I like the white edges of the feathers on its back though.

ya this let him look like a rebell :D

Birds have white feathers for dating reasons, for display rituals etc.

Birds have black colored feathers for work.

White is a very weak color and easily damaged whereas black is a strong color and more resistant to the ravages of wind turbulence over time.

This is why long distance birds like the Albatross have black reinforcing on all flight control surfaces . . .

Think about it, where you going to park and repair your wing if you are half way between Fiji and Hawaii ? ? ?

Smart birds : )
