Wagtail at the shallow water

One little bird that is pretty common, but I like it really much is the Wagtail that can be found nearly on every place where there is enough water. Like on rives, or lakes as well near small ponds. These pictures I made on the same spot as the pictures of the Little Ringed Plover that I showed you some days ago. The stones and the gravel there on the Danube river give them enough places where they can hunt small flying insects and water insects that hide in the wet sand there.

I really like watching these birds when they wag with their tail when wandering over the small stones or the sand of the river shore.

I also like it very much that these birds are not so shy, and they come really close. They know they can flee very fast. Most of the time they are running on the sand or the small stones but when they feel threatened by something they can also fly away very fast. Because they are very common birds I already found them at several places here in Austria, at the Inn river, the Danube, Lake Neusiedler and even in the mountains in "Mittersill" at the Grossglockner and also at several Swamps here in Upper Austria and Salzburg.

Some very nice pictures of the little guy.

👍In our country, these birds appear only in spring, and mainly in city yards.
