Poloniex, one of the largest digital asset exchanges today, has been acquired by Circle, a mysterious startup backed by Goldman Sachs. Circle has been relatively unheard of so far, but they just made a huge splash in the industry.
Poloniex was a well known exchange within the industry, and had the 14th highest trading volume at more than $155 Million in the past 24 hours. This is possibly the largest crypto acquisition to date.
Circle has also revealed some of their future plans for the company, including bringing back the ability to buy and sell Bitcoin with traditional currency. Considering Circle's strong ties to Goldman Sachs, they will likely bring strong experience with regulatory issues, which originally forced Poloniex to shut the service down.
