Will bitcoin's value go up, up, up because of the scarcity of bitcoin?

Okay, I think we've all heard the news that 80% of all of the bitcoin that will ever be in existence has been mined. We may or may not know that nearly 20% of bitcoin are (LOST). Well, not really lost, they are still there . . . they just can't be accessed because people who bought bitcoin previously when it was worth pennies have lost the KEY to the bitcoin and so they can not be accessed ever again (for now, I'm sure someone is going to come up with SOMETHING).

So now that mining bitcoin is almost an herculean feat. And we are getting to the threshold of "why ain't making any more of this". Does that mean that bitcoin is going to go up crazy in value?

Like, will we be talking the value of "Satoshis" and "Finney" instead of bitcoin? Instead of saying . . . Bitcoin is worth $100,000, will be say Satoshi is worth $1US or $10US etc. ? Do you think it will get that crazy high in value?

Please give me your thoughts on this.

That's crazy that 80% of bitcoins are finally mined. I thought it already happened months ago. As more and more bitcoins gets mined, more sarced it will be and the high the demand to hold at least 1 BTC will increase. I wonder if Bitcoin will boost a bit in price after this news :3

[laugh] Well, that's why I'm here on STEEM, I realize like you that this is a pretty good platform. My experiment is to try to gain power and influence on the blockchain with just my talent (content creation) instead of buying into it by buying STEEM. I intend to EARN STEEM and HODL.

Hopefully someday the steemit platform will actually back steem. lol

bitcoin is the originator and will always be remembered but i believe it will rest in peace. the fees are ridiculous

Is that bitcoin's fault or this that people taking advantage of the popularity of bitcoin and doing the exchanges between fiat currency and bitcoin? When I look at my break down in fees when I buy bitcoin, the cost fee from the blockchain is actually low. It's the exchange I'm using that tacks on additional fees backing it prohibitive. Or, am I being a newbie about this and this is not the case?

OMG! This is SUCH an AMAZING post! Thank you for sharing! I gave you a vote!!
