Centralized Demise - Change Needed

in #blockchain7 years ago (edited)

In my introductory post I briefly touched on my affinity for blockchain, and more importantly its surrounding ideologies and what those represent. For this post I will provide some context for the latter point. 🙂

Centralization Civilization

Our societies have followed a "centralized" model for thousands of years. From the ancient kingdoms of old all the way to present day empires and dictatorships, the masses have continuously been subject to a 'superior' rule.

But what truly makes one person so superior than another? First, perhaps it is blood, then race, then its religion, then wealth, then its education, then... “what the hell should we make up next”? At their core, they are nothing but bullshit constructs meant to disempower and control those whom hold the actual influence, the people.

It is truly a sad story, and we have seen it time and time again. The stigma of the day changes to best beguile the masses. As the old saying goes "same horse different jockey”. When will we learn? This is not how nature works. There is always an equilibrium a system seeks, or else it cannot sustain itself for long. This is why we are seeing such strife and chaos in the world, it has been out of balance for too long. We cannot blindly keep chasing one dogma to another hoping the next figurehead will save us.

De’mock’racy

This was the major appeal of democracy. A system of power distribution which flipped the old model on its head. Where the masses are banded together in liberty over subjection, and direct influence through a unified consensus. Sound a bit like blockchain? However, even that can become manipulated when the ideals are only partially implemented or not upheld.

As both an American and Citizen of Planet Earth, I cherish the idea of democracy. It is a unifying power with each person having an equal sovereign voice, and the whole being stronger because of it. Unfortunately America is not truly a democracy. It was founded as a national republic with democratic ideals, which—sadly—has become a globally imposing empire (reminiscent of Rome).

While originally a great and “revolutionary” step in the right direction, the country has become corrupt through political and financial dominance. The citizens are subject to financial servitude and are manipulated through incessant media propaganda, and solipsism rules the quest for bringing de’mock’racy to other nations.

Enter Cryptocracy

Thus we need a new revolution. One on the global scale in which all people can participate collectively for a common good. A prosperity equalizer where all persons have the ability to thrive from their contributions. And I think blockchain is one such revolution. While it will not cure all our current perils, it can address many, and is another great step in the right direction!

Still in its infancy, it has already made a global impact like none before. We have seen revolutionary moves in finance, organizational structure, contribution and reward models, and trustless systems. Even more exciting is where it has yet to go, how it will mature, and the substantial effect it will have on the world as we know it.

To Come

Well.. time to break I suppose. Now that we have a little context on the traditional models of centralization and a way we have tried to solve it before, we can start to dive into more specifics of blockchain. It is a fusion of technology and ideology which enable an open and free market based around community, sovereignty, participation and incentive.
