Steem as a direct way to shape humanity - mental practices for investing into future

in #blockchain6 years ago

As an "investor" I like to take my time and create the world where the tech in question would have gained status of being in mainstream. In this state, the technology is known by everyone and in use in all the possible ways imaginable.

But how to start creating this world?

World building

Know the tech

First thing to do is know what the project offers to the world. Then you have to start thinking where people would find use for it.

For example, Bitcoin offers money transmitting between any two parties without the need to trust a middle party. It can also act as a wealth storage that can't be confiscated even by mightiest leaders of the world.

Place yourself to shoes of others

Knowing this you have to start placing yourself to shoes of individuals around the world. What will they do when they learn about the existence of this technology. Will they refuse it, accept it or even endorse it, see possibilities to built upon it and drive the adoption of this technology. Whatever the answer you come up with for each individual, you have to also question why'd they choose that reaction. What's the cause? Can it change over time?

And don't think of just now, think the journey individuals go over time

Banker who's income is highly tied up to the old system might at first reject such idea of money that banks don't control, but someone who lives in a country that has low level infrastructure could accept the idea without a further thought. Or perhaps not at first... Bitcoin after all is quite hard thing to comprehend at first but over time, over some serious thinking and comparisons between the old and new, a educated conclusion will be reached.

So you can't just do that for yourself, but to be more sure about investing or not, do the same for people around the world. Start with innovators, those who are willing to invest time and resources to new, risky ventures. What will they think?

If there's a need, there will be builders

But back to the banker. He could, after their first reaction, start thinking these same questions. Perhaps in future, people will choose money that is proved by math, why trust FED, when you don't have to trust anyone at all. It just works.

Banker like this might look upon opportunities to start building services upon Bitcoin. After all, to have mainstream adoption, the tech needs to be easy to use. So, over time, if the tech is sound, certain individuals will recognize the opportunity and start building to be ready when the time comes.

But when the time comes, how the world will look like. How the user feels about using the tech. And this is where I'd like to talk about Steem a little.

How world, where needs have been fulfilled by Steem would look like and what that need is?

First let's start with the very basics, we all have our vision for what the ideal world would look like. And many of us feel like there's no way to actually shape or guide the world towards that vision, other than voting for politicians, who just might do what they promise, or not. That surely would can make anyone feel apathetic. World seems to be heading to certain direction and there's not a thing I could do, or is there?

Steem fills the need of having a way to affect the world around us for better

This is what I think Steem does the best. It's a collective of people, who all now have a direct way of supporting any individual or action they want, if just they're within their reach ( inside Steem ecosystem ). Some of these people love music, due to that we've seen openmic created, and ton of great singers sharing their original works all around the world with us. And believe, there's some great artists here already, check https://steemit.com/openmic/@ingridkorneelia/steemit-open-mic-week-108-say-a-little-prayer-cover-of-lianne-la-havas for an example. So now we essentially have our own talent show, where everyone can participate in from their home couch. That's great for introverts at least! ;)

And there's ton of such communities building up on Steem, and it will only explode further after SMT's are introduced.

Now you may think, will my 2 cent vote really change the world? It actually might, for someone that 2 cent could be difference between starving or not. But imagine Steem being mainstream, next to companies like Google and Facebook in size. What kind of power will we as stakeholders hold then? How big of an impact can we as a collective of people then have on the future? What kind of services would then be built upon Steem?

But the most important question is, would some people now, want to see that future happen. I'd say yes as I'm one of them. Are you?

What change would you like to see in the world, big or small?

Hello igster, how are you? I want an unconditional basic income for all people in the world. I do not want children, young people and people who do not have work to depend on parents, authorities ... in this way. I want Steemgar to rise again and play as many as at the beginning of this year. :D
There are still many changes in the world needed.

I'm good, and you?

Well, we want the same thing but we'll see what direction we'll go as technology gets to the point where most of the jobs can be automated.

I'm doing fine too. But I make it even better. Sometimes I want, that the time stop.

It won't though so best to try and make the best out of it :)
