Ramblings on/off Hive

in #blog2 months ago

It's been almost a month since my last post and this is what having the freedom to touch grass feels like off Hive. A compiled post that could've been broken into separate small posts based on small prompts. If you're looking for some sense of it all, there's some scattered bits here and there down below but I prefer to just shitpost freestyle given I don't really have a big audience to impress.

The Case of Delusional Disorder

I had a patient that believed he was placed under surveillance by a cousin for a long time and even before he was born and this was disrupting his life and those around him. Delusional disorders are difficult to treat because it's not just something medications can fix, there's adjunct psychotherapy involved that can take years to undo and it will depend on how much the patient is willing to cooperate.

When dealing with someone delusional, it's best not to challenge the delusion because patients become defensive and this cuts off all rapport to help them. Instead, focus on areas when you can agree on and introduce some ideas that could let them see their situation in a different perspective. What people mostly do is to deny and challenge the delusional person and this is what often agitates them, just imagine being told you're wrong all the time is already stressful enough so don't think it's strange that these people may lash out or be withdrawn from society.

I like the challenge and want to see the patient's progress during follow up. Although patients with delusional symptoms aren't rare, some delusions by their own unique nature tend to be challenging.

The Markets are Crashing

Great? I don't, somehow I just have a thing for loving red candles because I get to buy more cheap stuff. But buying crypto is not on the plans at the moment. I'm trying to increase my exposure to Philippine Stocks even if it's slow money there. We can look at the dumps and dips are bad signs but these are usually times when people luck out and accumulated enough to sell big years afterwards.

AI Art

The difference between the art we know and AI art are plenty but what distinguishes the two the most (for me anyway) is that the former is deliberate while the other is just chance. You draw squiggly lines, each line was made with deliberate intent to be squiggly while AI made illustrations takes out the active agency of the artist and hands it over to the machine.

There's a market for those patronizing works made by AI but the dominant consumers still opt for something that's made traditionally (including digital art), why would some AI "artists" deny they use AI when asking for commissions? because it's not really selling much if there's no soul in the work.

For artists that have deluded themselves into believing their AI art is art just cause they trained the machine to learn from their works, remember how much data is used to train AI to get where it is and slapping your own portfolio contributes 0.001% of it (hypothetically) while forcing parameters to focus on your style for more intended effect. Congratulations, your work has likeness to the old masters works because the old master's works did the heavy lifting while you slapped your name on the piece. You do you.

I don't know how Hive curation works for AI art. I'm not actively curating content as much as I used to. But if people here say blargh! to AI written content because there's a lack of soul input for the post, how much of that is different for the sole content is AI art?

Don't get me started on art posts that traces their works on AI.

Learning New Things

So I'm learning how to code from freecodecamp.org and also trying to get a certificate for massage therapy. But why though? I don't know, I just want to learn new stuff for kicks and giggles, there's not much financial incentive in it but just cause I can with my free time?

I should be focusing on art stuff but let me procrastinate.

How to tell if a post isn't made with AI assist?

yep.

You never know when learning new stuff could become handy. If you're into some advanced stuff, Harvard has some cool classes you can look into and there will be endless topic you can explore. I took their Data Science class and it was really fun. I finally solved a problem that was uniquely mine 😆

Come to think of it, it has been a while since I read your post too! I hope you're fine with this new job. It sounds like you were dealing some interesting cases that takes pretty much of your energy.

Dealing with people's mental health problem wasn't glamorous as it seems, no wonder my profession has one of the highest suicide rate among specialties because it takes a certain grit to last long term on the career.

I've looked into Harvard topics but none seem to catch my interest, maybe some other time when I'm done with the present set. Been itching to blog but can't seem to find the drive. Tempted to just outsource my shitposts to AI because some AI artists here have the creative freedom shitpost while it's bad if the writing was made with AI, the double standards on Hive~

And what happened to that patient? Is he still undergoing treatment?

PS: Hi ada, I missed your anecdotes.
