May Retrospective and June Plans

in #bloglast year (edited)

Oof. I started June (at least according to UTC) with a harsh reminder that I seem to be sensitive to some food coloring chemicals. I don't know which it is, whether FD&C Red 40, Yellow 5, Yellow 6, Blue 1, or one of the other dyes used in candies give me a truly massive headache. Whatever the cause, it is like a sudden-onset migraine with nausea and extreme sensitivity to sound. Fortunately, it also tends to pass within a couple hours once I realize what is happening.

I succeeded in posting every single day through May and earning another Hive Power Up Month badge in the process! That also means I have 31 posts to recap if I want to keep up this routine. I guess I don't want to do that very much, what with lingering nausea and headache. You can find all my posts here, and read everything between this post and last month's restrospective. Maybe if I feel less queasy later, I'll come back and edit this.

I don't plan to keep up this pace in June. I'm not likely to try for a power up month badge through either posting or staking. I may even need to take a break from blogging to the point of just delegating my Hive Power to various curation groups. I don't intend to quit long-term, but life looks likely to get busy for a bit. Of course, when I've made such predictions in the past, it never came to pass. Who knows? It could just be blogging burnout talking, and I'll be back to posting every other day or so after taking a week off.

I still intend to pursue the slow project of editing and cataloguing my old posts. We'll see if that comes to fruition before my next HIVE birthday. No promises!

It has been nice to see your daily posts, but I understand, I have been trying to write every day since 2019. I hope you can find out what is causing the headaches.

Ugh, the awful artificial dyes. So sorry you have that issue. We believe the red dyes make our boys crazy, J gets emotional and R gets stabby like taking pencils to cardboard boxes. Other dyes might too but I know many who swear the reds are bad for their kids and it does coincide with mood issues for our boys as well...

Even Wikipedia admits people claim anecdotal evidence of dyes and behavioral issues being linked. I don't discount the possibility.

Congrats on a daily post. I need to try and achieve that. I skip some and post more on other days. I guess it averages out, but it doesn't have the same effect!

Nope, not the same effect! The tricky part is working according to UTC instead of your local time zone. If I post late at night here in the western US, it works for me because it counts as before noon the next day on UTC.

No, not at all... funny how certain things matter so much...
