Traveling in Venezuela can be a nightmare

in #blog6 years ago

The Venezuelans that still remain in Venezuela we must constantly deal with the debacle of the transportation system to go to other cities within the country, moving through the territory became a nightmare and I'll explain why

Getting enough cash to buy the ticket is the first challenge. There are many mafias within the terminals that do not allow the installation of point of sale terminal, some allow a part in cash and another by transfer but you always need to get cash which as many already know is almost impossible here, what that you can get from an ATM will not even reach half of the ticket. To give you an idea, a ticket from my city Maracay to merida costs 160 Bs and in the banks you only get 90 Bs in cash weekly and 10 Bs in the ATM.

Most people who need to travel get to buy cash which they re-sell at 500% of their value, it has become a business to sell cash here. After doing all this to get the cash and buy the ticket the agony continues, the terminals are in very bad condition, without security, without air conditioning and with the crowds of people is something completely inhumane.
Getting to the destination you want will take several hours longer than usual due to the poor conditions in which the transport units are often the buses are broken due to lack of replacement and maintenance

The nightmare of the people who need to travel not only have to suffer them on the outward journey, it is also repeated on the return trip home. To return to your city many times you must go several days to the terminal to try to buy a ticket, but the effort is generally in vain. The people to go to sleep in the terminal because they pass a list three times a day and if the person is not present, they delete it from the list, buying tickets in advance no longer exists. Those wishing to travel to other cities in the country should go to sleep at the terminal from the night before to try to acquire a ticket because the tickets only sell them on the same day, we must take into account that 80% of the buses are inactive. for that reason for long trips of more than 7 hours they are not comfortable buses now they are only small and uncomfortable buses the majority without air conditioning are those that lend the service.

We can say that traveling within Venezuela has become almost impossible, The crisis has not only affected road travel, but also travel by air and sea, hyperinflation has affected the maintenance of aircraft and obtaining spare parts due to lack of foreign exchange. As a consequence, airlines have been in need of reducing flight frequencies and taking routes that are more profitable. The problem extends to the shipping companies that transport Venezuelans to the island of Margarita, as you can see for Venezuelans it is very difficult to travel within the country, whether for pleasure or business, the crisis hits us in all aspects.
