Between the bad weather and then the whole corona incident my golf game had stalled once again.
I'm not sure who was around but paddy's weekend last year, I posted from the hospital after my appendix had almost burst and had to be removed. This was just as I had gotten back into playing the game and I had to put it on hold for months as I recovered.
I played a small bit but had lost momentum and wouldn't have made any of the teams without that practise.
Fast forward to this year and again I had great hopes of getting back playing to a decent standard. My February was very busy but March was looking good to get started.
That was until paddy's weekend and disaster struck for the second year in a row. This time a worldwide pandemic. It was all very inconvenient.
Finally got back playing today with my mate I hadn't seen since Xmas. Longest time I hadn't met him since we were 12. Went to school, college together. Lived together and had all the same groups of friends so it's been very weird.
It's was great to see him and what a place to do it.
Dromoland Castle.
One of the top courses in Ireland and a tough place to play. I was delighted to play a decent round and keep up with the others. Even beat two of the three guys.
Had two birdies, a few pars and lost a few golf balls.
Great success.
The day was gorgeous and had sunshine the whole way through. What more could one ask for.
Oh ya. Personalised dromoland beers from a local brewery. Had a couple of these sitting outside in the sun afterwards and the day was complete.
It's just a pity that I have work tomorrow but I'm on holidays for the following two weeks. So hopefully more of the same.
