The Toronto Blue Jays are starting to gain momentum.
The Jays have won 6 of their last 7 games including sweeps of the Milwaukee Brewers, and the Cincinnati Reds. The most impressive victory came on Monday when they shellacked the Reds by a score of 17 to 2. Jays hitters touched Reds pitching for 23 hits!... Yes that's right 23 hits. the only blemish was a loss to the Texas Rangers on Sunday, but the Jays took 2 of 3 in that series.
It would seem that the Jays Bats are starting to come to life, after being silent for the first month of the season. Jose Bautista, Justin Smoak, Devin Travis, Kendrys Morales, and Russell Martin have all hit Home Runs in the last week. Troy Tulowitzski, and Josh Donaldson have also contributed with Round Trippers, after coming off the DL. The Pitching Staff has also done its share with solid performances from both the starters, and the Bullpen.
After starting the season at 1 and 9, and only winning 8 games in the April, the Jays finish May with a record of 18 and 10, and are now sitting just 1 game below .500.
As nice as its been to win all these games, now the real work begins. The Jays start a 4 game series against divisional opponent New York Yankees tomorrow, a real chance to make up some ground in the AL East.
Lets hope they take advantage of that opportunity.
