You are on the road outside your house. Walking.
There's nothing in your hand. Or around your shoulders. Or your back.
Your fancy laptop and keyboard are now no longer huge tools you need to carry wrapped around in a bag. They are now nearly microscopic chips stuck on to your nails. You press a nail and your display and keyboard is projected in the air in front of you. There is no CPU. Your brain is now a part of an unwired universal database and you are connected to the Internet all the time, but in flawless encrypted mode. Every human, business man, home maker or child that can walk or talk is equipped with this setup.
Society is no longer divided into upper, middle or lower classes. All are equal. Well, the older senior people are equipped with slightly fancier nail paint to compensate for their dimming eyesight and to show their experience level. But, that's about it.
Every 2 kms away, there are free 3d printing kiosks. Anything you need, anything you fancy you just need to shoot a command wirelessly and it gets printed and is waiting for you by the time you reach the kiosk. If you don't want the print, you can dump it off at the huge garbage tank parked behind the kiosk. You can 3d print anything for yourself: a fancy dress, shoes, anything, just walk to the nearest kiosk and pick it up and be on your way. Nothing is a problem anymore. There are no shops anywhere. Only kiosks. People are forced to think and create for themselves. And the more the complex the designs created, the faster the nail computers work.
Music! Alpha waves are played on every road through gentle loudspeakers so people are relaxed most of the time. There are no more conflicts or any enemity between people. There are no robbers or thieves. The world is a safe place. You can leave the doors of your house open, your vehicle unlocked or print yourself a 3d bed and lie out on the road in the open under the stars. Nobody is offended. Nobody cares to disturb your peace and to block your happiness anymore. The only thing to fear is the weather. But, there are news channels to warn about that.
Everybody is fed with the help of the food capsule each day. There is no other food needed, though food addicts can always cook up whatever they want and gobble that up too. 12 pm is the time when every human on the planet is personally provided with his/her food capsule for the day by the centralized nutrition service. The nail computers keep track of what's happening inside your bodies. Any mineral, any vitamin, any other essential nutrient level that goes down is immediately replenished through the food capsule system.

I dedicate this post to a lovely person called COLETTE. She needs help. You can read about her here: https://steemit.com/blogg/@markwhittam/please-steemit-help-me-save-a-life.
All SBDs from this post will be used to assist Colette.
Kindly upvote and resteem.
Great read, it all seems a little too perfect for now, or have I read too much sci-fi?
Keep going with this.
I also support Colette
Haha... maybe it is for now. Also, you have read too much sci-fi. :P
Let's see where this one goes. :)
Thanks for your support @gmuxx! Truly appreciate it.
That's the vibe I'm getting too. It's Bradburian; it makes me think of the parlor of wall-sized televisions showing interactive soap operas. The food replacement capsule is a trope too - but are there really people who would prefer one to eating actual meals? I sure wouldn't, especially if my wife is cooking them.
I already feel we are in a society where the average person cannot "disappear" and escape constant surveillance and identification should they feel the need to. This story sounds like it's made even more impossible.
You are right! We are already in such a society, cctv cameras, credit card trails, social security numbers, the Internet and God knows what else! The average person just cannot 'disappear' easily, but then why should he? Isn't it better to have a transparent world? Take #steemit for example. Everything that happens here, every transaction, every friendship, every post, every edit, everything is in the open. And yet many have never felt more free. People who want to probe will do it anyways. People who don't want to will ignore it anyways.
This piece of fiction is a piece of my hope for the future coming out with its own beats. I might be creating it, but I haven't reined it yet. Let's wait and see where it goes. Thank you so much for taking the time to read it and comment. I truly appreciate it.
Also, I didn't know about Ray Bradbury before. Thanks to you, I do now. :)
Wow, you really took my there. I can't make up my mind if I like the idea of everything being so safe, no crime sounds great, to be able to leave your door open sounds heavenly, but my only worry is the weather. It's like having your birthday everyday of the year, it sounds great but you know after 3 weeks it would drive you crazy. That must be why our world is so crazy, because if it wasn't we would all be so bored.
As always you really know how to get the imagination working, thank you.
Haha.. @markwhittam, I'm with you there. But, I also believe people will always find some or the other way to keep improving/challenging themselves. Question is, if one day, we do develop a perfect world, where would we go from there? Necessity is indeed the mother of invention. So what would we do next?
Good piece, thank you! Great that you are supporting Colette. I hear that she may join steemit. Upvoted.
Thank you @oasis-in-arizona! You are kind.
That'll be something to look out for.
The future is going to be amazing 😉
Yes, it is @codybitscott95! :)
I have a question — who will produce all this ?
Good question @natasmr. I'd like to think humans. :)
I'd like to think science and technology will advance to such a great extent that 'living' will become free and all humans will be able to satiate their desire for knowledge and material possessions on their own.
It is my Utopia.
I could almost see your character walking down the street...but I get an overwhelming feeling of loneliness...in this world there's barely any need to interact with other people. I find this very disturbing. (please keep writing, it was a very good read!)
Thank you @ladyrebecca! I appreciate your feedback. Yes, you are right. I am still at the individual life stage... so it does feel overwhelmingly lonely. Each person seems to be in a world of their own, right? In my next installment, I'll bring the society together and see where it takes us. :) Thanks again for your feedback and encouraging words.
The obvious question...what year are we in? Selfless efforts always have greater payoffs :)
Sending support for Colette!
Hi @tayken!! Good question. Have to figure that out yet. Maybe in my next to next installment? :) Thanks so much for your kind words! <3
I don't know why, but I find this a bit disturbing....
