Hi there!
It’s been a long time… but I am happy to be back here with a new project I want to introduce to all of you. About 6 months ago, @thebluewin and I started to develop a non-crypto game (but the very first one we made with a game engine – Unity) we want to publish on Steam. I would like to share the progress with you and demonstrate all the special mechanics of the game. Also I am very excited to hear about your thoughts on the game. Any kind of feedback is very much appreciated. So let’s dive right in.
In this tower defense game these very cute low poly styled veggies and fruit defend against evil enemies (ingame they kind of look like cyclops marbles for now but they will be replaced by evil slugs). All “towers” can be leveled up to a max of 5.
Let’s have a closer look at the veggies and fruit:
Tomato: The tomato shoots in only one direction. Depending on the level, it hits up to four enemies.
Pepper: The pepper deals constant damage to the enemies within its working diameter. It also slows enemies, which is a great feature to combine the pepper with other plants.
Banana: The banana can shoot across the map and always targets the enemy that is closest to reach the portal. It slows enemies permanently once they were hit and can deal a lot of damage.
Apple: The apple works within a certain diameter. Once an enemy enters this area the apple will shoot and follow the target.
Eggplant: The eggplant shoots all across the map, just like the banana. But it always targets the tankiest enemy. Whereas other “towers” have a set value of damage they deal, the eggplant deals a percentage of damage according to the life of its target.
Grape: The grape fires a lot of bullets in short intervals within a small range. I personally like the combination of pepper and grape, as it can be very effective once both are maxed up.
Mushroom: The mushrooms bullets follow their targets just like the ones of the apple. Although it deals a little less damage, there still is an advantage in using the mushroom. In a set interval the mushroom duplicates itself. So a new mushroom will appear in one of the free fields around the original one.
Orange: The orange itself doesn’t deal any damage to the enemies. It can come in very useful nevertheless, as it buffs the damage of all plants around it.
Pumpkin: The pumpkin constantly shoots bullets within a wide range while rotating around its own axis. Therefore, it can reach a lot of enemies. Not only will the damage increase by leveling up the pumpkin but it will also spin faster.
Pear: The pear works just like the apple. Once an enemy enters its working range, the pear will shoot. Once the bullet hits the targeted enemy, it will explode and deal additional damage to all enemies close by.
Melon: The melon works just like the tomato. The only difference is, that it shoots in two directions.
Sunflower: The sunflower produces crystals. You need those to buy new plants and level them up. You can earn crystals either this way, or every time you kill an enemy.
Now that you know all about the plants, let’s talk about the three different game modes. You will have to start with map one on “easy” mode and can unlock “hard” once you completed “easy” and “endless” once you completed “hard”. Also, more and more maps will be unlocked (there are a total of eight maps right now). “Endless” mode basically means you have to defend yourself as long as possible against the enemies. Whereas with “easy” and “hard”, you have to destroy a crystal you will find on the map bevor the enemies overrun you.
But that is not all. To add a little bit more spice to this game, every X (depending on the map) wave there will be a popup window which instructs you to choose from three possibilities to make your enemies stronger.
You will have to choose from the following options:
- Add a certain amount of heal to all enemies every second
- Add a certain percentage of life to all enemies
- Add a certain percentage of speed boost to all enemies
- Add a certain percentage of chance to revive themselves once after death
- Add a certain percentage of chance to split into a weaker enemy after death
- Add a certain number of enemies that spawn after split was trigger
Now, let's have a look at some of our maps:
For the last six months all this has been developed. We are very proud of the progress and currently working on improvement such as balancing and the actual looks of the game. Let me know your thoughts on Botanical TD!
You can check out Botanical TD here. Please add the game to your steam wishlist to support our work and be informed once the game is released. You can also play the free demoversion of Botanical here.
Cheers

Nice! :)
danke :)
Danke dir 😊
