I recently discovered Buddy via the writing competition they launched on Steemit and was impressed with what I read so I thought I'd take a closer look at this established development platform.
What is Buddy?
It's a development interface to enable rapid deployment of test, dev and staging servers or as they put it...
Buddy runs apps in sandboxes - disposable environments - for dev, staging, QA and clients previews. It also automates deployments to any server and cloud.
How is Buddy Different?
Having previously used VPS cloud servers it's frustrating having to run up a base install, patch the server and then be faced with loading the dev stack you want to work with.
It can be really time-consuming especially if you're working on different platforms for different clients.
But where Buddy is really different is they provide sandbox environments where you can play instantly without spending all your time running up a dev environment.
That's a real time saver, and lowers any barriers to development, allowing you to work on that idea or problem while it's still fresh in your mind.
Buddy also has a Free Server Plan for their cloud servers if you just want to dabble or try it out.
What's next for Buddy?
Well, Buddy is branching out into the world of Blockchain development, and currently supports EOS Integration, allowing you to test smart contracts quickly without all the heavy lifting of knowing the blockchain technology intimately.
And with future support for ETH, NEO, ICX, TRX, NEM BlockchainOps we should also actively lobby for STEEM to be added to that list, given the upcoming SMT's (Smart Media Token) will attract even more development activity to our busy blockchain.
If you want to see STEEM added to the list of BlockchainOps on Buddy leave a comment below.
And consider their upcoming Token Sale if you want to get onboard the 'BUDDY' Train.
We often talk about successful tokens being the ones backed by utility. So when an established company with over 7,000 active developers creates their own token [BUD] to power their economy you know it's better than a 50/50 bet.
And consider this, buying Buddy Tokens today might just save you a whole lotta cloud server fees in the future if the price starts to head North.
The Crowdsale ICO begins 1st Aug with a 25% bonus for the first 14 days, so do your research and decide early if Buddy will be your blockchain development platform for the future.
And as mentioned earlier hit them up in the comments if you want to see STEEM added to their list of future BlockchainOps.
I know I do.

Good morning @moneyhacks
Lately I've read about other tool called Crowd Machine and this project in so many ways seem to be similar to BUDDY.
Both are going to make developers lifes easier and both are worth attention. Thx for this great review.
Sometimes Im wondering if being tester/developer is not a risky job those days. All those new tools will make their life easier but since developers will be so much more efficient ... will there be enough jobs for them?
I wonder. What do you think?
Obviously upvoted
Cheers,
Piotr
