When was a kid we would and cast for shrimp in the rivers of costal Georgia in the US. Well the men went casting. The kids had to entertain themselves in other ways which was usually crabbing.
We tied chicken necks to a long cord and tossed that out. We scooped up the crabs with a long dip net.
We filled the pots but I have no idea what our success rate was.
A long dip net is what I need.
We sometimes go prawning here but we don’t cast. We scoop them with dip nets as they get push out of our estuaries into the ocean by the tidal current
