There have been very many studies done over the years that tell people how to manage stress. A simple google search will often suffice. But I would like to talk about the potential benefits of stress...
Really, Benefit from stress?
Stress is a very complex thing, but the rawest instinct of stress is fear. It puts us on edge and could even freeze us in place, but in that moment, we perform in ways that we can never imagine possible. Adrenaline is part of it but fear itself is a driving force...
Imagine if you will, that you have an upcoming deadline. In situations like that, stress is often unavoidable. Now think about what you would naturally do when there is a deadline. Some people will crack and may lose focus, that cannot be ignored, but for most, the stress of a deadline often motivates us to work even harder, often doing things we never imagined possible when there was no 'threat'.
I believe that part of the human psyche is to seek out 'danger'. If we weren't scared of the dangers around us, how would we ever learn to best them?
Facing your fear and harnessing your stress is not easy, but is very powerful! Every person is capable of it.
Know your limit.
No person can live a stress filled life all the time. Remember to take time off and to relax once that deadline has been met...
Once you are nicely rested up, push yourself even further next time!
Here is a quick 10 energy medititaion for when you need time while working on a deadline:
Love this post man i have had anger problems through the years but have learned how to take few deep breaths and walk away take another look on stuff. Was so bad no one even wanted to go to stores with me or out to have fun, cause one dude that would give me a crooked look i would confront and see what the fuck is up or someone just to piss me off a little it was done, i love to fight it's my sport but learned how to step back and just live life and not worry about what other people are thinking / looking at. Still have stress through my jobs and life but i look at the situations way different now that i have a Son and starting my own business trying to be better that then i have been in the past. Want my son to have what i didn't have growing up =)
Having a child really does help put things into perspective.
Remember, you are surrounded by hundreds of people a day. They all have their own problems, so the chances that they will even remember you is small. If they do, make sure that they leave with a good impression. It will only help your business.
Good post! I think stress is mainly self induced. Maintaining composure and breaking things down into tasks can go a long way in maintaining our stress level.
meditation and workout leads to being emotionally stable which leads to being less effected by stress :D That's how i feel at least, nice post ;) followed <3
Thank you. Very true.
Stress comes from negative thoughts, if you can control your thoughts you stay calm, just don't pay attention to people who irritate you or amount of work you have to do - don't resist to yourself, accept everything as what it is
Very well said.
I just watched this video today about stress. Reminded me of your post.
This is a pretty good message. Always remember though. Balance!
Too much stress does age you, simply because of hormones.
Funny how we all have stress to some degree or another in our lives but also how some seem to be more suitable for it than others.
It is odd, but to some degree, stress is a motivator to all...
Stress is a necessary human trait.
But if not controlled, potentially deadly...
Thank you for sharing this informative post. This post could really help me how to manage stress. I think have a good management of stress could really help me to finish the job effectively and it is the necessary condition of being a successful person.
Stress can be a wonderful motivator if you channel it properly. The problem is most people do not know how to use it to their benefit and let stress control them. You must manage and control it to your benefit.
I believe there can be a good, short-time stress, when you can benefit from it. Too bad if stress fills us for a very long time.
Some good ideas in this, thanks for sharing :-)
