It's not unfortunate at all. It's a good thing in my eyes that you need to get a license to fly drones. I for one wouldn't want people flying things in the sky who aren't properly trained and don't know what they are doing.
some people like the taste of boot 👍 and assuming that the current monopoly of training and verification for drones is the only way to do it.. is well, lacking creativity to say the least
There are for sure some issues and things that need to be worked out, but if people didn't break the rules and do stupid things then we wouldn't need these rules. Is no different than needing a license to drive a car, practice medicine, drive a boat, sell real estate, or any of the other hundreds of things you need training and a license for. If people didn't fly illegally and do stupid things with drones we wouldn't have a need for more rules and regulations. There's also a lot of false and incorrect info flying around online so it's always important to know what's true and what isn't. The drone field is constantly changing regulation wise and I don't agree with everything currently being proposed but do I think to fly commercially or professionally people should be trained and licensed, 100% yes.
Not sure what you mean by the current monopoly of training and verification though. Could you explain what you mean by that more?
