The Minnow Guideline to Success, how to survive, learn and earn.

I have been trying to come up with a post but the harder I try to make it the next steem hit, the harder it becomes to get my brain to boot up and give me the necessary words. I don't believe in writer's block. So I would not call it that. I think it's just my body and spirit telling me "Don't try too hard, Steem is all about Paid Fun"

I wanted to write about tips needed to survive on steem. Steeming is a science, take that from me, you have got to learn about it just the way you learn physics.

Today, I wanna talk about something that means a lot to me. You really don't know how much this means to me. I wanna talk about the needed steps to take to be a better steemian. To have a better following (mind you, I didn't say followers). I wouldn't equate the worth of a following by its quantity, it bothers a lot more on quality.

I would be pretty short with this as I would not wanna make things complicated. More so, if you see that you are already doing most of this things I will be talking about, then what you just need is patience, you're almost there.

Find Yourself

I talked about this on a vlog I did about how to make money on the steem blockchain. This was my first point and definitely the most important point. It will be hard to respect you for something you are neither good at nor have passion for. So finding yourself in terms of passion and mastery is highly important. Even outside of steem, success is still based on this principle.

So find yourself and project that gift in you to us down here on the steem blockchain.

Start Posting

Posting is one of the highly un-qualitative things minnows do. I laugh in greek both at myself and the other minnows because I also suck at quality a times. I don't know about you but editing my post is one of the most "stressful" things to do. Stressful is in quote because it is productive so I would not like to label it stressful, sort of negative.

So what are the post guidelines:

  1. Be true to yourself: Steeming is like an art , it has to flow from within, it has to reflect your personality, I have seen that people are more interested in an outpour of your personality than in you trying so hard to please them through your post.

  2. Every post is like a song
I have an intermediate knowledge of technical music production and a near professional understanding of its psychological side and guess what I found out. Some good songs you hear was once a bad song, before someone "worked hard at it" (Nas words) and made it good. and when I say work hard, I mean like a month of consistent hardwork at imes. That is why it is very easy to see an album of just 7 songs take four years of recording.

So work hard on your posts, quality is key.

  1. Format! Format! Format!.
A lot of my really good friends that just joined steem have messed up on this and it's really painful, you really don't know how painful it seems to see a potential 30 SBD post make 0.86 sbd, it's not about the money, it's about the wasted potential, it's like watching a really talented person die.

So format your post well, leave spaces between each ideas, make it look like a "John C Maxwell's book" or Richard templar's book. You need to see how those books are formatted and sectioned to be fun.

  2. Don't post and fly
When you post and you refuse to reply via comments, you leave a suspicion that you actually don't give a damn about what you have written , that you are actually here to rip people off because let me tell you one secret "There is a culture of hardwork here, there is a segregation of lazy people, it's like
    hyper-racism" .

  3. tagging
This is important for community participation. I am a part of the STACH, UTOPIAN And NIGERIAN community, so my posts reeks of their tags. More so, there are certain tags that are meant to give you some constructive visibility. Tagging should be a post on its own. Nevertheless, the best way to get a hang of this is to check other people's post and study how they use their tags , this will really save you some time.

Promote

I hate promoting just like every extra-sized person hates gyming and exercising but I have to do it, because every fat person and even the slim ones need exercise. So please, promote your posts. Here are some few tips on promotion :

  1. Promote on steem.chat and participate, you really need to be there. I just started being deep involved and it was fun from the start.

  2. Find whales and talk with them, they could have tips for you . Upvote tips, advisory tips, any tip. I am not just a fan of begging for upvote, I would not suggest you do that. I believe It's easier to build a relationship with someone when you have something of value to project. Every ones wants to identify with value , even the whales.

  3. Bots: I would neither suggest using them or not. They are yet to proof their worth to me. So research and experiment about bots and if you find the right one, you could spend some sbds on them.

Learn

If you can not learn here, you might not earn then and when I say learn. I mean intense learning and studying how things work , if you can not do that, a lot things will pass you by. This is very important, so please take this to heart.

Find a platform.

this was my second point on the vlog I made. There was a need to reiterate it here because it's a really important thing to do. This is not a manual on the steem blockchain, just a guideline , so I may not be so comprehensive but, just know this here on steem, platforms are the new teslas, if you can not find a platform for yourself, climbing up might be hard. So I suggest you quickly identify yourself with one paltform and grow your reputation there. Examples of platforms include:

  1. Busy.org (for eevryone that likes nice UI and free upvote)
  2. d.tube (for potential and established vloggers)
  3. Utopian.io (Open Source Contributors)
and a host of others you are going to have to find out yourslef.

I am a fan of those three I mentioned, try checking them out first even if you don't like any of the things they offer. Just check them out.

Socialise

This is the last but the first because with this, your steem addiction level will be ramped up, it will boost your sense of belonging , you will have more worthy followers and thus upvotes that leads to relevance.

How do you socialise:

  1. Install all of these apps: DISCORD, TELEGRAM, WHATSAPP
  2. JOIN STEEM.CHAT
  3. FIND STEEM USERS AND COMMUNITIES THERE
  4. ENGAGE! ENGAGE! ENGAGE!

Those steps are small but they are like atomic bombs, they have mega impacts when detonated .

ASK QUESTIONS

This looks silly , right? But that is my secret recipe, not just on steem but in the real world. Ask questions from anyone you see . In my dialect, there is a wise word that goes thus :

ABERE ONA KI N SINA

Meaning (in english)

The person who is not too shy to ask for directions will never miss the road

Every higher step I take here was because someone showed me the way.

Follow what I told you before you dismiss it.

Just try this out and see what I happens.

I didn't write this post just for you , I wrote it for us both.

Yes ofcourse. Correct!

Really wonderful article you are a successful person
Keep up my friend

Weldone bro... This is a Nice article to come by. I appreciate reading articles sucj as this.

Great tips here, Im trying to follow every steps laid out and I've also noticed that followers hip and engagement on steemit are two different things. I've had about 120 in the past 26 days I joined but engagement level is consistently low, I believe as you said, engaging specific communities through discord and telegram are important in this regards. About whatsapp, how do you find steemit groups on whatsapp? Thanks

Hmm. Best way is to talk with people on discord about which whatsapp group they belong or recommend, that way, the person who brought you in can help you integrate effectively into the community

Yeah, I guess that would be the best way. Thanks

under your guidelines, i like your no 1, cos many steemians do fake things to post.

I am happy you read it

What a great lecture, thanks bro
