DIY feather flower hair clips

in #c4 years ago (edited)

Today I'm going to show you all how I did my #feather #flower hair clip. If you missed that post here is the link on how they come out .https://partiko.app/aloha-creations/feather-hair-clips-fyyj6o76?referrer=aloha-creations

This is the #diy that I'm going to show you all.

Here are some of the things you will need.

Hot glue gun, I use a mini hair flat iron, scissors, barrette hair clips ( you can use what ever kind you want I just had these around. You can even use a Bobby pin if you like) also take note of the microfiber cloth I use. It gets most of the feather fluff from going all over.

I use e6000, along with these paints , you can use any color you like. Today I'm doing the pink and of course the black for trim.

You will also need some cardboard and felt.
Draw some circles on the cardboard about the size of a nickel , and the felt you will want just a bit bigger then your cardboard circle. Make sure you have two pieces of the felt cut out.

Once you have it ready to hot glue together it should look like a cardboard sandwich between the felt like this. This set will be your base to hold your feathers for the flower.

Now set the base aside. Were going to start with the feathers. I use white natural goose . And pull about 8 large feathers and 6 smaller ones .

Make sure you have your flat iron ready so we can straighten out the feathers now. You want a little curve on the tip but not down the center of the feather spine. So run each feather one at a time through the iron till you get a nice flat and little curve shape like these.

Now I'm going to put all my sizes of feathers into piles so I can keep track of how many I'm making. I tend to make about 3 to 4 flowers at once.

So next is the #fun part 🤗. #painting so water down your paint a little and brush on a light thin coat in the center of the feather.

If you did it nice and thin it will dry pretty fast so you can work on the next color. That's adding the two black bands. I brush the tip of the feather first.

Then the second band of black. They are to mimic the feathers of a pheasant. Just with some color 😉

After you have done all your painting, now it's time to trim the feathers. I cut them down to about 2 inches for the outer layer and 1 inch for the center layer. So make sure you keep track of the size of your feathers, that's why I separate mine before I paint.

And line them up by size because when you use the hot glue you have to be fast.

Next get your felt circle out and glue gun and start adding in your feathers one at a time.

I use a extra paint pallet to keep the feathers from falling flat. Then start to add the center ring of feathers between the spaces of the first layer.

Once your done with the last layer get your e6000 and glue the hair clip to the back.

Let it dry for a hour or so and then you get to decorate the center of your flower. I use flat #pearls and # crystals

Add a small drop of e6000 to some crap paper and use a toothpick to add tiny drops to the feathers.

Sand then your done 😉❣🌺.

Its 3 inches around and so cute for any hair style.
