Automotive enthusiasts have all watched "Top Gear"; the BBC's automotive segment with the charismatic trio of hosts, Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May. The show was a massive money-maker for the BBC network because it offered a unique car review show that stood out from the others due to it's comedic nature.
If you know about the show then you've probably heard about how Jeremy Clarkson got fired for punching a producer because there was no food on set. While that is a completely acceptable reason for kicking an employee to the curb... the BBC can't help but feel some regret in that decision.
The BBC network's former boss Thompson said, ".... I would say his pungent, transgressive, slightly out-of-control talent was something the BBC could ill afford to lose,” ... “He spoke to people who didn’t find much else in the BBC.”
After Clarkson left the show he was replace by radio host Chris Evans - who quit a few of months later. It's no surprised that Evans left after the series finale had the lowest views of any Top Gear episode ever. Matt LeBlanc, Friend's star and co-host on the new Top Gear doesn't seem to have any plans of sticking around either.
So is Top Gear dead, gone, dunzo??
Hammond and May also left the show, alongside Clarkson . They've gone onto newer, better things at Amazon where they will have an "unlimited budget" for episodes on a new show that will be called "The Grand Tour". I for one cannot wait to see what they have in store for us. I miss their comradery and onscreen shenanigans.
I know the UK loves that show.... I tried to watch it but old guys driving exotic or super fast cars is not for me.... But if they switched the guys for hot women like Sofía Vergara, yes I'll pass on TMZ to watch that.
Love the show, aspecialy the specials. Im not even into cars at all, but since Clarkson and the others left I coulndt get myself to keep watching.
