ALL FOR CHARITY
A child wearing indigenous attire
I am giving all I earn on this post to buy art materials for a children's workshop this coming February 2, 2018. This was initiated by @kennik and his friends.
The workshop
The workshop will be held in Davao City Toril in one of the public schools there namely "Tambobong Elementary school" in Calinan.
This will not be the first workshop, previously on August 26, 2016 the group taught indigenous kids the value and enjoyment of visual arts.
Here are some pictures of the event
The event overall was a good and very productive one! We are hoping we can make this a more frequent activity so these less fortunate can be given a wonderful experience in the arts.
ART SAVES LIVES
Often in my posts I always mention art can save lives. Why?
What good does it give?
The group aims to:
- Bring out the talent in them
- Help them develop the thing that they are good at
- Stray them away from the dangers of life particularly drug related dangers
- Divert their attention from negative things in life like anxiety and other related issues
- Let them experience the beauty of art
- And so much more out of the whole positive social experience
When and where is the next workshop?
We are still looking for community partners or barangay to work with for the venue. However, this years target is to conduct artworkshop atleast twice a month. The next art workshop will be on February 10 @ Brgy.11b. A group of dancers pledged to have a Zumba Fitness for A(rt) cause and targeting 50+ kids.
And we will conduct artworkshop as soon as there would be approval from any baranggay.
What does the group need?
The group basically needs art materials for these kids. I @jacinta.sevilla pledged that when this post pays out I will donate all the amount towards providing art materials and even for their meals to enjoy the whole experience.

So we are hoping for positive feedback and support from steemit community.
Take it from Tokio Myers
watch how he made his way to achieving his dream in the arts. Watch the video!
If youre familiar with the TV show Britains got talent, I found one artist very inspiring for his abilities and perseverance. He creates music. It may not be visual art but I cannot NOT SHARE the things he said about his passion.
(1) To him, music gave ways of releasing any kind of negative energy and turning it into something positive
(2) Playing piano for me, kept me out of a lot of trouble
(3) lucky to have found something where I could channel my energy
Now, if these children would continue to enjoy school, stay out of the streets, channel negativity of their lives into art, any form of art then we would be helping them. Art can change lives.
Please help us spread art!
The art program for these children will start on February, hoping that the next time we conduct charity art activities we are considering to engage Adolescents because this is a good way to introduce them to art as a diversion at a very critical and emotional stage of their lives especially if theyre going through many difficulties. Art can be a way, not drugs, sex and violence. I am a believer of the arts!
If you live nearby (Davao/Philippines) You can donate art works and art supplies or simply be at the event to witness it.

I totally love the idea. Me and my group of young Teachers are planning to do the same. Last December, we gave away groceries and toys to elementary students in the hinterland of Ozamiz City. But I found it kind of a one-shot gift. And so, I suggested to them that we’ll gonna utilised our talents to do a sustainable community engagements. Personally, I hope to collaborate with you or maybe we can exchange some thoughts about community engagements. Thanks for this, mate!
