✴️ MY "OLD SCHOOL" DVD COLLECTION! DO YOU EVEN HAVE THESE ANYMORE? 🤣

in #charlesfuchs6 years ago (edited)

Movies can and do have tremendous influence in shaping young lives in the realm of entertainment towards the ideals and objectives of normal adulthood ~ Walt Disney.

What's Up STACKERS!

This morning when I starting the "Monday Grind", I decided to go to my game room and it reminded me of something, am I the only one in 2018 with a DVD Collection still? I currently have over 1000+ DVD's 🤣

A few months ago, I had my nephews and a few of their millennials friends come over and the first thing they said "Charles, you still own DVD's" 📀 and started to laugh. My response was, "who doesn't?" lol

To be honest, I don't think I even know how a DVD players works anymore. Most of the movies are online these days so I watch them from there. Damn, time are changing fast I guess or I'm just getting old lol. 👴🏼😳

Here are some of my favorite classics! 📺

Just a simple post today that I wanted to share with the  Steemit Fam! So let me ask you guys something, do you still have a DVD collection? If so, what are your Favorite ones? 🤷🏼‍♂️

Let's make this interesting, if you had to get rid of it all... which one would you will keep if you only had to choose just one DVD?

I would have to go with "The Chappelle Show" collection, they are just classics! For all the new "kids" out there, they probably never have heard of it. 😅

So guys, let's have a great start of the week and "Keep On STACKIN" 💞

I can't remember the last time I watched a movie on dvd.
I do not own any bluray I recall.
But I have one in case. Nowadays you can stream everything.
You have a wonderfull collection and I see you have a lot of classic as well.

Keep on steemin'

Nice post great collection..About 8 mile I finished it many times.. I loved it I have been an Eminem fan for years he has my respect thank you for sharing this post

I've got tons of dvds lol. Rack it, crack it and stack it!

... about to sell it all lol

How can you sell them? As someone who got rid of ALL my old VHS and massively regretted it I would recommend holding onto them, there is something about holding them, they are essentially books, its an actual library!!! :-)

DVD's are still modern ;-) I Still even have my old VHS video tape player and tapes . My wife asked my lately to throw it out to the garbage and I refused 😩 I have so much old electronic gadgets in the basement that I think that all of it did cost me at least 60k. I dont know why I got this pointless habbit of buying electronics and I dont get rid of it when is outdated but keep buying new one. I might gonna open myown museum of technology one day i think 🤔 2 steem entry ticket 👌😀

HA - I HAD to Laugh, as my dad did the EXACT SAME thing !

I once tried to help him have a Garage sale, & he kept bringin' stuff back inside the house ! ☻ Can u feel me?

It was a trip !

He was just trying to save you time as he would buy it all again anyway at another garage sale :-D

Haha 😂 I know exactly what your dad feels like lol. Some things are priceless ;-) I also keep buying diy hardware. And the funniest thing is that I dont have much cluea how to fix things. 😂 My wife doesn't even know what I really have in the basement 🤣

Thats what basements were made for :-)

Lol. I need bigger one for more gadgets ;-)

Just extend it upstairs and have some gadget rooms too, you could justify it by saying it will all be worth a lot of money in a few years and that its collectables, to be fair it probably will be too :-)

Ho. Yeah, my dad was able to work on his hardware - as he had repaired Vii Instruments (Airplane instruments ).

He used to take me along, when he would DELIVER the repaired instruments to the proper department at the airport.
You made me chuckle ☻☻

Lets all sell it and buy some Steem haha

Yes for certain!!! VHS is excellent too, I so regret ditching all of mine, don't take the advice, keep them forever and ever!!! :-) Old tech is great :-)

I know, it's priceless! And doesnt break as easily as all of these mass produced brand new hi-tech gadgets :-)

Exactly, all that stuff is really well made, I remember years ago I had a Sanyo Betamax VCR, that thing was built like a tank, it had solid metal parts in it and weighed a total ton to lift but it actually all in all lasted about 30 years before it started having issues rewinding, but even then I managed to repair it, I had to eventually give it away but I don't doubt it probably still works, it will probably still be working when the next ice age comes, new tech lasts a few months a lot of the time then breaks :-/

Ha -- "still be working when the next ice age comes" -- indeed, what a bit of #Humor here.

I can relate

You can?? Do you have the same Sanyo Betamax VCR? :-p

Charles @stackin I don't have any DVD's but I do have a Copy of Beavis and Butthead Do America on VHS................

Classic! :)

FIRE, FIRE, FIRE !!!

huuuhhh uuuuhhhh huuuuuhhuhh cool cool

I have a copy of that also.

Great collection..About 8 mile I finished it many times.. I loved it I have been an Eminem fan for years he has my respect

That movie is true Motivation... reminds me that if you want it bad enough, a person can get it 😎

I still collect real movies
IMG_20171020_184556.jpg

Digital downloads will never ever look or feel like that :-/

Oh shit! My mannnn! That’s legendary stuff right there! 😎😂

That's funny you should ask, I still have cassette tapes, 8 track tapes. This made me smile, I know what generation you are from... lol Great post @stackin

Casette tapes are the best thing ever :-) Mix tapes were the music of a generation :-D

I always enjoyed them in the day.

WOW, you busted out "Cassette Tapes" and "8 tracks" out, sure brings out memories for me haha

A few months ago, I had my nephews and a few of their millennials friends come over and the first thing they said "Charles, you still own DVD's" 📀 and started to laugh. My response was, "who doesn't?" lol

Hahahahahhahahaha, who doesn't ??? Well sorry to say but I think your the only one in this. Threw mine away donkey years ago. I had to evolve with the changing world

Let's make this interesting, if you had to get rid of it all... which one would you will keep if you only had to choose just one DVD?

If I were to keep any one ,I would keep "Highlander" or "No retreat no surrender" ...these movies blew me away those days. Watched them over and over again. Damn....I love classics .

You did bring up the classics, I remember Highlander and "No retreat no surrender"... those were awesome!

Wow, you really have a huge collection! Maybe save it for your grandchildren, they would love this kind of retro

Ahaahaha :D I still have 8 mile and Scarface DVD. I think they’re special :D But I don’t have 1000+ DVD like you :D

I had to bust out the "Classics" LOL

I would buy from Amazon some classics but couldn’t afford :D may be I esen from here and collect them LOL :D

Not only do I still own some DVDs, I also still have some VHS tapes. Here's my colour-coordinated copy of The Hunt for Red October
VHS casette.png

I have blu rays of the classics like Lord of The Rings, Oceans 11 series, some Alfred Hitchcock, Stephen King movies and or course the Godfather series.

Oh yeah 8 Mile and Scarface FTW.

I have only few collection but all are lost due to house shifting, but you keep the memory.

I still have my DVD collection so if the grid ever goes down I can use my DVD player with a back up generator to stay entertained... ha ha!

wow that's a lot of collection epic :D

Wooow excellent collection I think its also your memory, thanks for sharing your collection

Stackin DVD's! LoL!

Times are actually changing fast. We are changing with it. Someday fiat momey will be like these.

I hope the digital currency won't be controlled by the government though lol

I do hope they don't. But digital currency is the future.

I enjoy Chappelle's Show - and Ice Cube movies ocassionally.

And of course I appreciate Al Pacino's #Film - most of 'em, such as Scent of a Woman, & Dog Day afternoon.

For me, I'd likely keep RICHARD PRYOR (saw him perform in person ).

Appears u have over 150 dvd's, dude !
Maybe u shd list 'em on Ebay ..

Take care (& I'm voting up yr Post)

#ENTERTAINMENT

cd? dvd? vhs? what's this? i have a 5yo laptop and never inserted a CD inside lol

you think that´s old school bro... have been to a friend of mine last weekend. He still has the retro - mega old school stuff in place ... VHS recorder ... and all functioning too :)

But hey, not gonna blame him for that.

I think I have about 10 VHS tapes but no VHS player these days hahaha

I got one for sale 😂

I do have dvd but mostly because the internet connection in my country was so slow you couldn’t watch a movie onlines haha

Now, we have a little better speed (about 8mbps) but it’s enough to watch HD videos.

My favorite movie in dvd would have to be Fun with Dick and Jane I was a child the first time I saw it and I end up seeing it more than 10 Times! Great movie, you should watch it.

@stackin nice collection. The Bolier room is good one too. Best wishes :)

I sold thousands of DVDs about 12 years ago. At the time I was able to get something like $8 per DVD. I think I paid about a year's worth of rent that way.

Ah the good old DVD collection I seriously had a very had time cleaning mine out when I just recently moved. I ended up keeping about 90% of the movies even though I like never load them up in my dvd player! I mostly stream everything now but DVDs ahhh i feel like we are getting old and younger kids would be like you got DVDs you grandapa! lol

What a collection, I must really be a kid
I'm not familiar with any of the ones you have listed

Seriously? You just made me feel old lol

Many people say childhood is the best time of your life. I agree. A child doesn't need to work and earn money, or take care of their family....

😂 this is an interesting one, as for me I have loads n loads of DVD collection ranging from 1990s WWE matches, films like coming to America 😂 and music like Celine Dions and Keith sweat, all of them r my favorite.. Honestly I can't choose between them 😂 🤣😅

I still got my Keith sweat 96 CD or was it 95 😂... classics!!

I sold mine about 5 years ago for about 20% of what I recall paying. BUT, I ripped them to iTunes first.

It was like eating my cake and getting paid for it too. 🤘

Just sold my collection about a month ago. I had thousands of them but kept a few because I could never part with them. Scarface being one and the Entourage season series being another lol

But yeah, I used to be a fiend for DVD's and Blu Rays. New release Tuesday I would go to my local Best Buy and spend a small fortune on the newest flicks.

Crazy to think I had that much time to watch movies lol

I used to have many DVDs. but because they occupied a lot of space, I had to upload all my hard disk and throw away my DVDs. @stackin

My wife and I still have an impressive DVD connection. And we even still watch them from time to time. Although we are streaming a hell of a lot more movies than we used to.

My one and only favourite DVD that I would never get rid of is The Crow. It was the movie that Brandon Lee was making when he passed away.

I don’t come across that movie on many streaming services. So Indont think it has much of a following. It’s always been one of my favourites though. Mainly for the sound track - it has some amazing 90’s artists in it. The Cure even made a song just for the movie.

What no Wolf of Wallstreet? I would have guessed that would have been up there for you.

Damn it, forgot all about it haha

Wow, you have Wall Street and Scarface!:) We still have DVDs here in the Philippines but yes the privileged ones are now watching movies online.
Thank you for showing us your DVD collections @stackin! :) ♥

My favourite movie of all time is actually It's a Wonderful Life, is an all time classic and I have several DVD versions of it which I will keep forever, including the colourised one and the anniversary boxset!
All great :-)

Coincidently I just wrote a post on it!!!!
