Today felt like one of the first mornings that was a bit more chill here in Finland compared to the other days. I was one of the people complaining about the Finnish winters and wanting the heat to come as soon as possible but I sure was not prepared for this heat. This was literally the first year I had to go out and buy a fan as the apartment was getting so hot, not just during the days but during the nights too. It feels weird not being used to this heat, especially knowing that 30-35c is not a lot compared to other countries that witness 40c+ daily, I can't even imagine what it would feel like to live there right now.
Without going too much into "global warming" as I'm sure has been discussed and mentioned way too many times recently, I did stumble upon a great video on youtube that explained quite well the current heatwave. Apparently its not just global warming but a nice mix of several things that leads to these record level heat waves we are seeing all around the world today.
This video was published by youtuber Simon Clarke and it explains it quite well and its created in a good way that keeps you concentrated with a tad of humor in it.
As jealous of Iceland as one can be after watching that video, it felt so awesome when we finally saw some rain here in Finland and it seems that right after that the temperature started to drop quite a bit. Today as I stepped on my balcony I could feel the cold cement on my feet for the first time and I just stood there for a bit enjoying the fresh air.
Its weird how the mind works, we often get used to something and keep longing for a change, when the change hits we are so unprepared for it that we long for the old colder days back instantly. It kind of reminds me of us Steemians here way back when the front-end Steemit.com had some issues and everyone started to panic and try anything to get their Steem addiction clenched. Its that whole "you don't know what you've got until its gone" feeling and for Steemians I think its way stronger than any other site on the internet. I know we like to complain a lot about different things as we all are shareholders of the currency and its easy to feel the need for our voice to be heard or to feel entitled about things. During times like those the negative shouts are often heard the most than the ones trying to remain calm and let people know that everything is going to be alright - but it also tells you that a lot of people here would be devastated if the site suddenly stopped running, or in worse case scenario - the blockchain.
I'm not just writing this to point out the obvious, but comparing it to Reddit or other sites I don't think that I would be all too annoyed by not being able to reach it for a few days. Maybe this tells us a lot more about the real worth of the Steem blockchain compared to others?
Those who are often focused on the price and keep thinking that this is not going anywhere, I usually tell them to chill and just think long term, the times of getting "rich quick", etc are over and most of the swings in crypto's lifetime have not happened all too often, but when they do things change rather quick and you don't want to be left holding those paper note scams. :)

Yeah. We have like, a society here, man. A community. A little cult, or something. I like it. When the blockchain froze like a couple months ago or whatever, watching everyone coming together and keeping each other (mis)informed was great and I've never really seen anything like it.
I do hope Steemit Inc can solve some of the problems that seem to keep happening with Steemit though. It seems every week or couple of weeks there's a day where votes aren't going through, or pages aren't loading, and it's kind of a drag. Yesterday was one of those days I think; my votes weren't going through so I just gave up. Could have been just me though.
Glad to hear things are starting to cool down for you guys. After everything I've heard this summer though, you folks are never allowed to bitch about the cold winters ever again ^_^

Good morning, @acidyo. Today was the first chill morning here in Norway as well; taking the dogs out to pee when I woke up was definitely a lot colder than I expected. The ironic part is that it's 10 degrees, so it's not even cold, it's just a lot less hot than I had anticipated.
Man, don't let me start on the heat.... I can't take it. Had to stop 2 streams in the last couple of days beacuse of the 35+ temperatures and the fact my craptop gets so hot you can make ham and eggs onit doesn't help. Wish I bumped into an abandoned gaming pc next time I go out because that's my only chance of an upgrade currently -.-

Just as you said it - I wouldn't mind any other site not working for a few days and more. Only if Steemit is not working then all you do is try to connect via esteem or busy.org to satisfy your need haha
Steem is down now but I heard from a lot of experienced people that we need to be patient and that the real crypto peopld are HODLing.
So, that's what I'm going to do. I believe in STEEM and I changed everything in my real life so I can spend more time on Steemit.. Unfortunatelly, I still don't know how to trade or be better/faster at earning, but I am learning everyday.

I'm not surprised you had to buy a fan @acidyo; I'm going to guess that houses in Finland are designed to keep warmth IN rather than OUT... so I'm guessing that would make these heat waves pretty unbearable.
Here in the northwest corner of the USA it's also unusually hot and we're grateful for those days when a cool sea fog blankets everything till at least early afternoon... at least it gives us a chance to cool the house for a few hours...

I'm glad you're talking about it, man! I just see with concern that many people in steem speak ill of the platform. I wonder if it's bad, why don't you get out? They don't realize that by speaking badly, they are hurting themselves. These are things I still don't understand. Thanks for this post!
@acidyo, indeed, let's keep on reminding everyone that we should be thinking long-term about our beloved steem.
We, the cryptonians should see a long term investment and not a quick and easy cash. Crypto is so volatile that we never know when it will skyrocket coz as of now, it still struggle to spike up and all we can do is really to chill :)
I’m actually enjoying low STEEM price feed. It truly is time for people to accept that linear is for longevity and that we should bend over to early stage whales/wallets who came for
ponzin^whatever and had utopian get rich quick rewards, with someinternal circle jerkinflation too.This is not and ICO. This is road to IPO crypto alternative.
And with this price feed... let’s honestly enjoy the faster growth in vests while we still can. In a year or so, or when STEEM hits $4 and higher again, people are going to cry they don’t grow SP anymore. Can never win, right.

Same here in Poland. Yesterday, it rained till 5 in the morning and then the sun came out and we had another hot day. But today I was up at four and found a chill in the whether....... after the current heatwave I loved slight chill in the air.
But now it 5:40 and the sun looks bright and I know that its going to be another hot one

Definitely relate to the longing for change ESPECIALLY with weather. Obviously it applies to a lot like you said, but with weather its a guarantee. Its why I love living in Chicago actually, the changing of seasons is so wild that I'm always looking forward to the change. I'd go crazy if I lived somewhere like Arizona where its just hot all year round with no snow.

Around the world currently having hottest temperature and it's difficult to feel our body. With some human's worst activities, going up much global warming and hope will increase much later. But Asian has various temperature than Europe now. Shared video of Simon Clarke's explained much better those content.

No way, you have been experiencing hotter temperatures in a Scandinavian country than what I have had these past few weeks in a Caribbean tropical climated country, that was quite the educative video, I live on the shores of the Caribbean sea but soon i'll be living on the pacific, I wonder if it has a similar currents systems, gotta research that.
When Steem goes down, everyone panics and thinks its the end of the world, when reddit goes down you just go "meh" and check again later, I guess we don't want to see our little steem down, but tech is tech and it will always find a way to fail from time to time lol. I think with Steem its worse because we are not only connected here but on other chats like telegram or discord and we all freak out together, while in my experience reddit tends to be a more of a solo experience...

This is certainly the case: when we are cold, we ask for a little heat and vice versa. I think the man's getting used to complaining. Every day I see in steemit the people saying and calling to leave the boat before it sinks. Such an alarmist attitude only makes the situation worse. We should not despair because, as you say, this rather than helping, makes the situation worse. If it's cold, take cover. If it's hot, look for a good fan. If things go wrong on this platform, take the time to harvest, and the time will come to reap the fruits. Nice night for you!

I like the analogy you used to explain some of the attitudes in steemit. I think we're always looking for the worst of things. The heat may be unbearable, but complaining and doing nothing about it won't do any good. There you are: you felt warmth and sought a solution, and you even came to desire and appreciate the cold that you complained so much about before. Learning to live and face the bad times, that living in the best weather is a walk.
I love it because something similar is Venezuela, it is from the countries where we literally have everything, deserts, seas, cold, heat, tropical, rainy, etc, in its different regions, and believe that right now we are in a climate where morning is cold at noon is hot and in the afternoon rain and cold, very crazy haha greetings
These days I was watching a documentary on how greenhouse gases were causing a type of skin cancer, as they are functional as a kind of magnifying glass of the sun's rays. There are places, all over the world climate change exists, that are experiencing great droughts and hot seasons, and other countries where low temperatures are freezing to the bone. The weather's crazy like steem. What we need to do is to be prepared! Greetings

Well written article @acidyo. The heat wave hmm it has like sent ripples through out this world and is particularly threatning the nature. Perhaps Vast forest fires in many countries have led to devastative effects and it also destructs the scenic views of an area. I was like really sad when heard of this news. The worst thing is that it is gonna last fro some periods more. Well i am really glad Finland has got some rain and the weather has vit back right a bit. Here we jave temperatures reaching 45°C. You know it will sound pretty massive to you coz you havent witnessed any like these but here it is just above the average. The video was great and i am too becoming abit jealous of Icleland. Hope this heat wave gets over soon and we get to see some chilled weather like that in Finland. You are really blessed. Thanks for sharing. Keep up the good work. I will pray and urge you guys to pray as well for this disaster to end.

The heat IS unbearable. I was just home, in Latvia and it was just WOW! I walked from my bus to my friends home and was drenched. The only ''upper hand'' I had on the weather was that my home town is by the sea and a river flows through as well. My whole life I have had water around and that is where I spent most of my holidays.
Global warming might not be something everyone believes in... Ahem. But it is kind of hard to ignore. It has been all my young life. For example, when I was a child, the snow sometimes got as thick as 25 cm in winter. Now, you will not see more than 10 cm. The summers were warm but you could only swim in the sea in the end of August, when it had warmed up enough. Now, the sea is dotted with people all summer long and there are always brave souls testing the waters. I went to swim in 18 degrees warm water(not really warm but not cold either).
I like summers but they are way too hot now. However, I would not change them for winters or Sprint, or Autumn as I always live right next to a river and can swim on my convenience. :D Selfish me :D
I would like to have the cold of your country in my town, but the safest thing is that it happens what you say and in the end I regret it and want again my warmth hehehehe

I do not like it when the price goes down a lot and I do not like that I do not get to $ 8 soon but I'm still faithful to Steemit and I just think that in the future everything in our community will be better.

It's funny what you say because it's true, sometimes we want something or a change and then when we have it we feel we don't like it or not what we expect! In addition the climatic states are somewhat crazy, where I live sometimes rains with sunshine while it is more heat is a rare thing to explain
