Scripturally, the answer is NO. God does not anymore use the prophets to communicate to us in this present time, although the information provided by Prophets of old can still provide useful lessons to us. At Jesus' baptism, the heavens were opened up sand God spoke directly from there. He said, "this is my beloved son, the one whom I have approved. Listen to him" So upon his baptism, Jesus thus was confirmed as God's spokesperson. The Apostle Paul also confirmed this change of roles in his letter to the Hebrew. He wrote:
Long ago God spoke to our forefathers by means of the prophets on many occasions and in many ways. Now in these last days, he has spoken to us by means of a son whom he appointed heirs of all things... [Hebrews 1:1-2]
All the things that God wants us to hear and know about regarding christian living and our salvation had been revealed and recorded for us in the Bible through the ministry of Jesus Christ and his disciples and apostles.
Next time someone claims to be a prophet, do not allow yourself to be deceived for many false prophets have come into the world. Remember Hebrew 1:1-2
