It came to pass that the seven years of abundance and bountiful harvest soon passed away, the years of dearth did set in upon the face of earth and the food situation did decline. However there was supply and availability in store in the land of Egypt, but when the decline of food in circulation became drastic the Egyptians took their case to Pharaoh who years earlier had handled over the leadership of the kingdom to #Joseph, he consequently redirected them to Joseph for further actions.

By reason of the dearth in the earth, Joseph opened up the storage locations in other to make corn accessible to both the Egyptians and people from other countries that came to buy from Joseph, the great general of Jehovah.
Jacob the Father of Joseph heard that there was corn in Egypt and seeing that the supplies of his household was depleted, he rallied his sons together and directed them to go down to Egypt to get purchases. This they obeyed, Jacob however didn’t allow Benjamin to proceed with them for fear of losing the last and remaining son of Rachel, whom he thought had lost his only brother Joseph.

They got to Egypt and met with Joseph for their purchases but never did recognize him as Joseph their lost brother, he however played along with them even though he knew who they were. They came and bowed themselves before him with their faces to the earth, and then Joseph remembers the dream he had about them several years ago.
It all started when they were still younger, at the age of seventeen Joseph grew up to be a young man and was involved in his father’s business with his brothers in feeding and looking after his family’s flock. He was full of life and a very observant young man; he took note of his brothers’ activities and normally updates their father about their activities and evil conducts.

Jacob so loved him that he made him a coat of many colors. The brothers did notice the favor he commands from their father and this caused a serious rift between Joseph and his brothers whose disposition towards him nosedived with much hatred. Joseph was a man of vision and given to dreams and interpretations, to this end he had a dream were he and his brothers were in the field binding sheaves and he’s stood upright and his brothers’ did obeisance to his. At this stage of his juvenile he exercised no restrain in communicating his dreams with them, this lead to further degenerate their already soured relationship with him as they saw him as one that exude much arrogance and no decorum. He also related his second dream to them and this time to his father where he saw the sun, moon and eleven stars in obeisance to him, His father rebuked him but took note of his dream.

Joseph upon seeing his brothers posed the assertion to them that they were spies, who had come to spy on the land of Egypt, this they however refuted vehemently and gave a comprehensive explanation of their background when he persisted with his claim. Joseph used this strategy to get to know and find out about the welfare of his father, brother and entire family at present.

Joseph insisted they were spies, but to exonerate themselves from the accused espionage he told them they should produce their youngest brother Benjamin, who at that time was still with their father back in Canaan. He got them arrested for three days and made them a deal which will involve releasing all save Simeon who was to remain in custody till they returned with Benjamin.

At this point they recalled their erroneous deeds, how that while they were still younger that they had much contention with Joseph which led to his ordeal taking a new dimension. It happened that their father sent Joseph to seek out his brothers in She-chem and see to their welfare and flock in other to return words again to him as Joseph’s tradition was, but in a turn of event little did he know that that errand was going to change the course of his life and remove him from his comfort zone. Upon meeting his brothers at Dothan after being directed by a certain man who found him wandering, they considered murder as an option to get rid of him and his lofty dreams. But Reuben’s timely intervention truncated their intentions, who sold the idea of casting him into a pit this was a ploy to eventually save him from them and return him to his father.
