From the Book of James 4:6-10

BEING CLOSER TO GOD
1. There must be humility when we draw near to God

-Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.
-humbling ourselves means recognizing that our worth is from God alone. It is working with His guidance not coming from our independent effort
-prayer is a complete dependence to God.

2. Submit ourselves to God

-rank under meaning we are submitting ourselves unto God. We surrender in the will of God. Resist the devil, therefore we must follow the will of the Lord. The devil will go away
-must know that God is the God. The devil will also be submitting to God.
-God wants our whole heart so there wont be a space to the devil

3. Resist the devil and he wil flee from you

-resist whatever the devil will offer to you
-1 step towards God is two steps away from the devil

4. Cleanse your hands and purify your hearts

-hands pictures the work we are doing. Our hands should be clean. If one hand offend me, cut it off>

Matthew 5:30

And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

• keep your life pure. Even the way we think
  Phillipians.4:8

5.Discipline yourself. Be broken in the sight of the Lord.

-a borken and contrite spirit the Lord will hear
be afflicted, and mourn and wept
-a broken vessel --- lighten up the world
-when we pray, there must be earness in prayer. Weep. There is truthfulness in there

Dont be ashame to cry when we pray because God is nearer to them that are broken hearted

-->will you draw nigh to God?
