This past Saturday was Free Comic Book Day at all participating Comic Book Stores and one of those free publications offered was "Godzilla: Monsters & Protectors" #1 from the IDW Halloween Trick or Read series. Designed for all ages, this story was written by Erik Burnham and drawn by Dan Shoening. Luis Antonio Delgado provided the color work, while Nathan Widick handled the letters and design.

Godzilla is as popular as ever, especially with the recent releases in the movie theaters, so why not make his presence known within the comics. It appears that the masses are getting the Godzilla lowdown through the C-Vlog MeToob channel. Cedric Nishimura wants to tell his viewers how he saved the world. It seems that a company called Linival just created some new form of energy that even made Cedric's teacher very excited. This all began with the discovery of a new element on the Periodic Table.

Through a wireless transmission, radiation began to flow through the ocean surface creating an adverse effect on ocean life. Even worse, Godzilla was once again awoken and rose to a very agitated state. It was said that Godzilla hadn't interfered with land for a very long time. However, when laboratories mess with the planet, Godzilla goes into action. A very important question was raised by Cedric's tale. What happens if Godzilla realizes that the people are the problem?

The artwork was very clean and the storytelling was very similar to many of the more recent Godzilla movies. Can Godzilla be like another Hulk? In an effort to protect his home, he gets labelled as the villain.
