A Lazy Costco-Fueled Midday (aka, my chippy thoughts on Costco)

Hey guys!

I’m having a lazy midday of it today. I did some chores this morning (ran and sorted laundry, ran a dishwasher load, some minor organizing of makeup). So now I’m just chilling in bed with my Kirkland tortilla chips and my artichoke dip, both from Costco. I’ve already finished the baby carrots, also from Costco. Excellent snack, carrots and dip. Healthy too! (Well, compared to other options anyways).

Ever find a store that you can see yourself living near? Ever wish you could live INSIDE a store? That’s Costco for me. I would love to live within walking distance of one, be able to enjoy the food and atmosphere every day. I literally eat Costco food, wear Costco clothes, and even run and jump around in Costco shoes (sometimes). Okay, I will admit, their shoe options leave me wanting. But they have everything else you’d need for daily life! Even fire extinguishers!

Yesterday, I went and had to resist the temptation of more leggings and getting a hoodie. They were on sale, $6.97-9.99!!! Awesome deals!!! But I’m on a spending freeze for 2022, and am already at +4 pieces bought > amount tossed. I’m trying to toss more than I get new, because realistically a full spending freeze isn’t happening. I only broke once this year so far, during the two days of 2/14-15! Which honestly, once every 2 months is acceptable in terms of buying clothes. And art supplies and makeup and jewelry. Yeah, I have a large no-buy (wish) list. Eh, life goes on. And I do love this dip. Gonna need another tub soon. Yum. 2610 calories in the dip alone…oops. Don’t worry, I have ice skating class tomorrow! It’s a snow day today, so I’m not going to the public skate, but tomorrow I’ll work off those calories! Meanwhile, let’s just chill in bed with the chips and dip. And my peeps here on Hive of course.

So basically, this is just me chatting about my day and my love of Costco. Do you love Costco too? Or do you have a Sams Club or BJs instead?

Love you all! Let’s all have a great day!

Very sweet post :)) I like your spending freeze thing, I think everyone should do that. We spent a lot for anything. Whatever. Keep going :)) 👍

🎉I hope Costco gets to see this post and how much you love them. A room room shouldn't be hard to create in the store😜
Lovely Post, much Love💜

Oh, and in case you were wondering about the #mask tag, I used a bubble mask. It was fun. Just deleted that line before publication.

Gotta say I hate Costco and everything it represents - cheap stuff at cheap prices sourced from other countries where people are exploited. We have the Dutch version of Costco here in Thailand, called Makro, and it's a place I go as a last resort. My preference? Buy direct from growers, farmers, markets and ,local business. Support creators and people with ethical business values.

A no spend year for 2022? Now THAT I like!! Have you checked out The Minimalist community on Hive yet? Some very cool people there trying to follow that ideal too... you might find yourself supported and inspired. 😊

Unfortunately, I’ve tried minimalism and I hated it. I need a backup and backup backup to feel secure (long story I don’t want to get into here). Having too little makes me panic buy. (Funnily enough, I’ve also been told I haven’t stocked up enough.) I’m actually the opposite of minimalist. But I want to not buy anything new (in those categories, obviously food and stuff I’ll buy new), and also try to use up or toss old items. I have a real issue with tossing clothing when I can upcycle, for example. Except the sewing machine never quite gets turned on. I have so many half-pinned projects it’s not funny.

It’s hard to buy local near a big city. “Local” produce delivery services actually truck it in from 2 states away, go figure. Costco actually uses mostly ethical suppliers, or at least they use the best of a bad lot. End of the day, I trust them to pick what’s good for me.
